Samsung Electronics held 'Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2022: Unfold Your World' online on the 10th (Korean time) and unveiled the next-generation foldable smartphones, the 'Galaxy Z Flip4' and 'Galaxy Z Fold4'.

The Galaxy Z series unveiled this time is Samsung's 4th generation foldable phone, and both products provide a more optimized experience for each user with upgraded performance and expanded foldable usability.

The 'Galaxy Z Flip 4' has a compact clamshell form factor and utilizes the 'Flex mode' that is only possible with foldables to create new and different experiences. You can enjoy the rich shooting experience of 'FlexCam'. Not only can you conveniently shoot with both hands free, such as taking selfies with multiple people, but you can also implement various shooting angles that are difficult to experience with general smartphones.

Featuring a camera with a 65% brighter sensor than its predecessor and the Snapdragon® 8+ Gen 1 mobile platform, users can capture high-quality photos and videos day or night.

The 'Quick Shot' function allows you to take high-definition photos using the rear camera on the cover display without opening the smartphone. Samsung Electronics emphasized that Quick Shot supports portrait mode shooting and can switch to Flex mode during Quick Shot shooting to continue shooting, making it useful for creating vlogs.

In particular, we have strengthened our partnership with Meta to provide a FlexCam experience optimized for social apps favored by the MZ generation. For example, Instagram supports Flex mode when shooting 'Reels', providing an experience optimized for shooting 'short-form' videos, and WhatsApp and Facebook support Flex mode in video calls.

It also offers a more sophisticated design with a slimmer hinge, matte back glass, and glossy metal frame. Users can personalize their cover display with photos, GIFs, videos, and more to suit their individuality and taste.

You can make calls and reply to text messages directly from the cover display without opening the phone, lock and unlock car doors through Samsung Pay, and control devices connected to SmartThings through the 'SmartThings' widget.

Samsung Electronics said that the improved functions of the 'Galaxy Z Fold 4' allow users to perform tasks more efficiently than before.

Multitasking can also be activated more intuitively through new 'Swipe gestures'. Switch full-screen apps to pop-ups instantly with finger gestures, or split the screen to quickly launch multi-window.

Samsung has also strengthened its partnerships with Google and Microsoft (MS) to enhance the multitasking experience for popular apps.

When using MS Office and Outlook, it provides a UI optimized for the foldable large screen, providing more information on one screen and allowing you to compose emails easily and quickly through drag and drop.

The 'S Pen' function applied from Fold 3 is supported, allowing drawing and note-taking while on the move, providing a more powerful multitasking environment anytime, anywhere.

The 'Galaxy Z Fold4' supports a 120Hz screen refresh rate and allows for more immersive video viewing through the main display with improved visibility of the 'Under Display Camera'.

Social apps like Facebook provide a UI optimized for large screens, allowing you to enjoy more content on one screen. In addition, OTT apps like Netflix can be comfortably viewed in Flex mode, and apps that are not yet optimized can also use the ‘Flex mode Touchpad’ to pause, rewind, play, and zoom in and out of content.

In addition, the grip has been maintained with a slimmer hinge and thinner bezel, while the 'cover screen can be used more widely' has been improved, and the weight has been reduced by 8g compared to the previous model, making it the lightest weight (263g) among the Galaxy Z Fold series to date, increasing portability.

The durability of the 'Galaxy Z Flip 4' and 'Galaxy Z Fold 4' has also been enhanced. Armor aluminum is used for the frame and hinge cover, and Corning's Gorilla® Glass Victus®+ is used for the cover screen and back glass, making it resistant to external impacts.
