Nordic's nRF52833 SoC has been adopted for Samsung Electronics' lightweight smart location tracker 'Galaxy SmartTag', supporting stable wireless connectivity.


Nordic Semiconductor (CEO of Korea: Soo-Chul Choi) announced on the 7th that its nRF52833 SoC has been adopted by Samsung Electronics, a leading global IT/mobile company, for the ‘Galaxy SmartTag’.

The Galaxy SmartTag provides a simple and effective way to track the location of items that are easy to misplace, such as keys or bags.

Nordic's SoC supports Bluetooth® LE wireless connectivity, which is used to pair the Galaxy smartphone's 'SmartThings' app with the Galaxy SmartTag.

Nordic’s nRF52833 2.4GHz multiprotocol wireless SoC supports all Bluetooth Direction Finding features and can be used for positioning applications based on signal direction and Received Signal Strength Indication (RSSI).

It also has ample memory allocation (512kB flash and 128kB RAM) to serve as both a receiver and transmitter for Angle-of-Arrival (AoA) and Angle-of-Departure (AoD) applications. I can support you.

The nRF52833 SoC is designed to minimize power consumption, enabling long battery life.

The CR2032 coin cell battery used in the Galaxy SmartTag lasts for up to a year, increasing the chances of users finding lost items.

In addition to locating your valuables via Nordic’s Bluetooth LE wireless connectivity, the Galaxy SmartTag can perform a number of other functions. It can be programmed to perform automated tasks on SmartThings-compatible devices, such as activating your home security system, dimming your lights, or controlling your smart TV.
