The world's largest electronics show, 'CES 2024', held in Las Vegas, USA, opened on the 9th. Prior to this, Samsung Electronics held a press conference on the 8th (local time) and unveiled its vision for 'AI for All: Connectivity in the Age of AI'. The event was attended by approximately 1,200 global media and partners from Samsung Electronics.
Samsung Electronics introduced its strategy to lead the hyper-connected era and sustainability opened up by AI, including: △strong security and sense of responsibility suitable for the AI era, △various new products based on AI, and △a new level of user experience.
■ The era of AI screens is in full swing… Providing personalized experiences Samsung Electronics unveiled a number of new home appliances, mobile products, and TVs with AI functions. In particular, Samsung Electronics has opened the 'AI screen era' by equipping its 2024 'Neo QLED 8K' with the AI processor 'NQ8 AI 3rd generation' that has 512 neural networks, which is 8 times more than the previous year, and an NPU that is twice as fast.
This is implemented through a home appliance-specific AI processor and Tizen OS. 'Neo QLED 8K' recommends relevant content and services in a personalized manner. Additionally, picture and sound quality are upgraded through ‘8K AI Upscaling Pro’ and ‘Active Voice Amplifier Pro’.
Along with this, the next-generation technology of Micro LED, 'Transparent Micro LED', which was revealed at the First Look event the day before, 'The Premiere 8K', which is the first projector to support 8K wireless connection and can project up to 150 inches, and 'Music Frame', a customizable speaker that goes well with any interior, were also introduced.
In addition to the TV, the 2024 'Bespoke Refrigerator Family Hub Plus' has upgraded 'AI Vision Inside' to automatically facilitate the storage of ingredients. The front of the refrigerator is equipped with a 32-inch wide screen. The new induction product 'Aniplace' is equipped with a 7-inch LCD screen, so you can easily cook while watching the cooking guide sent from your mobile phone or Family Hub on the screen.
Washing machines also have AI innovation technology added. The 'Bespoke AI Combo' can use the 'AI Custom' course to optimally add detergent and customize washing and drying based on the weight, fabric material, and level of contamination of the laundry without having to move it to the dryer. The 'Bespoke Jetbot Combo' is also equipped with an object and space recognition function, and can recognize floors and carpets on its own and clean them according to the material.
Additionally, the ‘Galaxy Book 4 series’ was also introduced. It will be released in three models: the 'Galaxy Book4 Ultra', 'Galaxy Book4 Pro 360', and 'Galaxy Book4 Pro', and is equipped with the Intel® Core™ Ultra processor. Samsung Electronics has collaborated with Microsoft to introduce 'Copilot', which will enable the Galaxy Book4 to read and summarize smartphone text messages, or automatically write and speak text messages starting in March.
■ SmartThings and Bixby… Realizing a True Smart Home

Samsung Electronics expected to realize a true smart home by making SmartThings and Bixby more automated and personalized through AI.
Samsung Electronics' 'SmartThings Map View' uses spatial AI technology to understand the home environment and allows integrated use of devices. In particular, starting in March, LiDAR installed in robot vacuum cleaners will map the space and allow connected devices to be identified in 3D at a glance.
AI voice assistant Bixby has improved the ‘voice call experience’ to enhance Bixby compatibility, and the ‘Bixby command execution experience’ has also been improved to allow commands to be executed on the optimal device.
Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics, together with Hyundai Motor Group, is strengthening the connectivity between residential and mobile spaces through linking the SmartThings platform. The two companies' 'Home-to-Car and Car-to-Home services' are services that allow users to remotely start their cars and operate the heater in advance on cold mornings at home through Hyundai Motor Group's 'Software Defined Vehicle' linked to the SmartThings platform.
Additionally, Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis connected car customers will be able to turn on air conditioners and air purifiers in their homes that are linked to the SmartThings platform through the infotainment system or voice in their cars.
■ Emphasizing security and sustainability in the AI era Samsung Electronics has expanded its services for the Samsung Knox Matrix and Vault, emphasizing user security in the AI era. The Samsung Knox Matrix isolates devices with problems through mutual monitoring to maintain the security of other devices. This will be expanded to Samsung Electronics TVs and Family Hub refrigerators this year. Samsung Knox Vault has been expanded to the Galaxy A series, and protects personal sensitive information such as PIN codes, passwords, and patterns.
Samsung Electronics said, “To strengthen security, we are researching vulnerabilities with various partners, preemptively responding to threats, and creating new standards for privacy.”
Samsung Electronics continues its efforts to create a sustainable society. As part of this, it applied recycled resin to approximately 14% of the total plastic used in products in 2022.
Additionally, the new collaboration with Tesla will expand the ability to link SmartThings with Tesla's electric vehicles, solar panels, and home battery 'Powerwall'. It will also be possible to automatically reduce electricity usage within the home.
SmartThings' 'AI Saving Mode' can help you secure maximum battery power and prepare for power outages. Tesla's 'Storm Watch' notifications, which send advance warnings of bad weather such as heavy rain or heavy snow, can also be received through Samsung Electronics Smart TV.
