Samsung Electronics will unveil a number of innovative AI technologies at CES 2024.
Samsung Electronics will present AI technology in everyday life by declaring 'AI for All' at 'CES 2024,' the world's largest electronics show held in Las Vegas, USA from the 9th to the 12th (local time). To this end, we have set up the largest exhibition hall among the participating companies at the Las Vegas Convention Center, measuring approximately 1,192 pyeong.
At this exhibition, Samsung Electronics emphasizes the following ecosystems based on AI: △Sustainability and △SmartThings.
■ A sustainable future presented by Samsung Electronics
Samsung Electronics will showcase the media façade using Samsung Electronics’ display technology ‘The Wall’ at the entrance of the exhibition hall in the highest resolution. Next, the booth will feature a Sustainability zone for the new environmental management strategy goals announced in 2022. It will showcase Samsung’s specific resource recycling efforts, such as the various recycled materials used in new products and the Samsung Upcycling Project.
Samsung Electronics is taking the lead in resource circulation by developing recycled materials at the Samsung Electronics Circular Economy Research Institute and reflecting them in actual products to strengthen sustainable product strategies and partnerships. The exhibition space also applied recycled plastic materials to the walls to save resources, and some of the recycled plastic walls used in the IFA 2023 exhibition hall were reused.
Samsung Electronics' Galaxy Book 4, Neo QLED 8K, and Bespoke Grande AI washing machines show how they are produced, transported, used, and recycled at the material level. It also introduces ‘SmartThings Energy’, which allows customers to directly reduce their energy usage and contribute to reducing carbon emissions through energy usage and bill monitoring functions and ‘AI Saving Mode’.
Collaboration on the future eco-friendly housing type 'Net Zero Home' is also continuously strengthened. When natural disasters due to bad weather such as typhoons or heavy snow are expected, 'Storm Watch' notifications in the Tesla app are sent to Samsung TVs, and in the event of a power outage, SmartThings Energy's 'AI Saving Mode' is activated to automatically reduce power consumption of home appliances, thereby extending battery usage time.
In addition, Samsung Electronics provides TV smartphone apps so that everyone can conveniently use technology without restrictions, and provides voice guidance for home appliances using Bixby. Samsung Electronics also works with the startup ecosystem for a sustainable future. It encourages the environmental technology ecosystem through the startup incubation program C-Lab Outside.
■ Home appliances equipped with AI… Opening the era of SmartThings and on-device AI
Samsung Electronics is working with global partners through SmartThings, Matter, and the HCA standard to introduce a number of AI-powered home appliances that provide customers with differentiated connectivity experiences. First, on the second floor of the 'SmartThings' zone, we experienced Samsung's innovative products in a space decorated like an actual home.
Samsung Electronics will also open the 'AI screen era' with its next-generation screen products at CES 2024. Centered around the Neo QLED 8K, it will showcase the 'NQ8 AI Gen3' processor, a third-generation AI processor equipped with an NPU that is twice as fast and a neural network that is eight times improved compared to the previous year. It will also introduce the differentiated screen experience provided by Samsung TVs equipped with Samsung Tizen OS through the newly introduced 'Samsung Daily+' function.
Micro LED products will be released in various sizes from 89 inches to 140 inches. This time, the next-generation micro LED that combines transparent technology with micro LED will also be introduced for the first time. 'Transparent micro LED' can be customized without space restrictions, and boasts a high transmittance and clarity, providing a clear picture quality that existing transparent display products cannot achieve.
This exhibition showcases the first IoT refrigerator since 2016, the Bespoke Refrigerator Family Hub Plus. It uses an internal camera with ‘AI Vision Inside’ to make food management easier.
The 'Bespoke AI Combo' is a product that combines a washing machine and a dryer. It features an 'AI customized course' that uses AI to sense the weight of the laundry, the material of the fabric, and the level of contamination to adjust the machine to the optimal mode from washing to drying. Additionally, the robot vacuum cleaner 'Bespoke Jet Bot Combo' will also be exhibited.
