Shinsegae Department Store's main branch is being transformed into a Korean version of Times Square with Samsung Electronics' large-scale LED signage.

Samsung Electronics announced on the 13th that it will supply ultra-large LED signage to be installed on the exterior wall of Shinsegae Department Store's main branch.

The LED signage covering the entire exterior wall of the Shinsegae Department Store main branch is 71.8m wide and 17.9m high (area 1,285㎡), which is the size of three basketball courts.

Shinsegae Department Store's main branch is part of the 'Myeongdong Tourist Special Zone', one of the second outdoor advertising free zones announced at the end of last year.

Through the LED signage project on the exterior wall of the Shinsegae Department Store main branch, Myeongdong Tourist Zone is expected to be transformed into a ‘Korean Times Square.’

If an area is designated as a free outdoor advertising display zone, regulations on the shape, size, and color of advertisements are relaxed to allow free installation.

Samsung Electronics has once again proven its technological prowess and quality stability by supplying Korea’s largest high-definition LED signage to the exterior wall of COEX SM Town, the first outdoor advertising free zone, and winning the contract for the LED signage at the Shinsegae Department Store main branch.

It meets various industrial standards such as UL 48 and UL 746C, and has obtained IP66 waterproof and dustproof certification, so it can be used in snowy and rainy environments. It is safe and durable against dust and foreign substances.

This product has a refresh rate of 7,680Hz, which minimizes flicker and moire phenomena when viewers take photos or videos of the signage.

It also supports HDR10+, allowing you to enjoy content with more vivid and clear picture quality.

The plan is to complete the installation of the ultra-large LED signage by September of this year and begin operation in early November.

In addition to department store themed videos and brand advertisements, it is expected that the LED signage will allow people to enjoy the splendid and fantastic media façade that is presented every Christmas season at the main branch of Shinsegae Department Store in a more vivid way.
