‘세계에서 가장 가벼운 14인치 노트북’이라는 이유 때문이다. 세계 기네스 협회는 전 세계 25개 국가에서 판매중인 약 70종의 14인치 노트북 무게를 측정했는데 LG전자의 2017년형 ‘초경량’ 그램 14가 가장 가볍다고 인증했다. 그램 14는 기존 980g에서 120g을 더 줄여 무게가 860g에 불과하다.

'All-day' gram with up to 24 hours of usage time and two-track strategy LG Electronics' 'ultra-light' Gram 14 laptop has been listed in the 'Guinness Book of World Records'.
That's because it's the 'world's lightest 14-inch laptop'. The Guinness World Records measured the weight of about 70 14-inch laptops sold in 25 countries around the world, and certified LG Electronics' 2017 'ultra-light' Gram 14 as the lightest. The Gram 14 weighs just 860g, a 120g reduction from the previous 980g.
The LG Gram previously held a Guinness World Record. The 15.6-inch Gram 15 was recognized as the world's lightest 15-inch laptop last year, weighing 980 grams, a 30 percent reduction from the previous model. LG Electronics, which has increased the screen size to 13.3 inches, 14 inches, and 15.6 inches every year since 2014, has led the era of light and thin laptops with a product weighing only 980 g.

The ultra-slim notebook market, which is showing explosive growth, has been increasing sales by more than 25% every year since 2014. Up until the third quarter of last year, 6 out of 10 notebooks sold in Korea were ultra-slim notebooks. The weight of the 'ultra-light' gram is 830g for 13.3 inches, 860g for 14 inches, and 980g for 15.6 inches, and the battery life is about 12 hours (based on MobileMark 2007).
LG Electronics Gram is not only emphasizing weight. It has reduced weight but increased battery capacity. Thanks to the increased battery capacity, it is emphasizing the 'All Day' Gram that can be used all day long.
The 'All Day' Gram can be used for up to 24, 23, and 22 hours for 13.3-inch, 14-inch, and 15.6-inch models, respectively (based on MobileMark2007). This is more than double the capacity of existing products, and the 13.3-inch model can play videos continuously for up to 17 hours. You can watch movies or work during your flight from Incheon to New York without having to charge your phone in between.
Significantly Increased Battery Capacity with Carbon Nanotube Technology The reason why such an ultra-light gram is possible despite the battery capacity is because the weight is only 77% of the original, even though the capacity has doubled. As is already known, the increased battery capacity is possible because the battery structure, which requires charging energy and general conductive materials, has drastically reduced the general conductive material portion by developing carbon nanotubes. The explanation is that the carbon nanotubes developed by LG Chem have enabled a greater charging energy and a significant increase in capacity. This is the reason why the 'all-day computing' emphasized by the company has been realized.
In addition, the Gram has implemented an upgradeable DDR4 dual memory design (onboard slots and additional slots mounted on both sides of the PCB) with a circuit redesigned to next-generation standards, and a 40% larger mega cooling system keeps the heat down.
LG Electronics Managing Director Jang Ik-hwan said, “Our ultra-light notebook Gram has been receiving much love over the past year,” and added, “We have focused on reducing weight so far, but customers have expressed regret about the usage time. I am satisfied that we have reflected customer needs by releasing a product that is lightweight and has significantly increased battery capacity.”
