KETI, Korea's first ultrasonic smart gas meter field demonstration
The Korea Electronics Technology Institute (KETI, President Shin Hee-dong) is the first in Korea to conduct on-site verification of a household ultrasonic smart gas meter, responding to the energy crisis through precision gas measurement and remote metering.
KETI announced that it held an ‘Ultrasonic Smart Gas Meter Test Bed Construction Event’ at the Samcheolli Technology Research Institute in Osan, Gyeonggi Province on the 6th.
On this day, key officials from the seven companies participating in the ultrasonic smart gas meter supply alliance, namely KETI, Samchully Co., Ltd. (CEO Jae-kwon Yoo), Bitsrocell Co., Ltd. (CEO Seung-guk Jang), INC Technology Co., Ltd. (CEO Chang-il Park), Dong-il Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd. (CEO Dong-il Son), GMS (CEO Yun-ho Kang), and Jain Corporation (CEO Gyeong-am Park), attended the event and inspected the ultrasonic smart gas meter demonstration site.
Ultrasonic smart gas meters are smart meters equipped with precision measurement through electronic ultrasonic sensors and remote metering functions based on wireless communication, and are attracting attention as next-generation meters that will lead the digital transformation of the gas industry.
Since 2019, KETI has been developing ultrasonic electronic smart gas meter technology with support from Korea Gas Corporation, and in 2021, signed a 'Business Agreement for the Manufacturing and Supply of Ultrasonic Smart Gas Meters' with six companies, laying the foundation for the domestic production of core components and establishment of a supply chain.
Also, a gas Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) demonstration As a technical support organization for the project, we are developing gas AMI standard technology and supporting the distribution of 100,000 smart gas meters to 10 cities and provinces nationwide (Seoul, Gyeonggi, Daejeon, Ulsan, Jeju, etc.) by 2023.
According to the KETI Data Convergence Platform Research Center, which is in charge of technology development, the research team has secured the source technology for commercialization, including the world's best ±1% level ultrasonic flow measurement technology, ultrasonic smart gas meter dedicated system semiconductor, and precision ultrasonic flow measurement sensor module.
KETI Smart Gas Business Division Director Kwon Young-min, who attended the event, said, “We plan to successfully verify the effectiveness of ultrasonic smart gas meters in cooperation with manufacturing and supply companies,” and “The center will continue to secure operational data on ultrasonic smart gas meters in the future to contribute to improving energy efficiency in the domestic gas industry.”
