Merck, “Leading the Supply of High-Performance Materials for Advanced Displays”

Participating in K-Display 2023, Showcasing Advanced Display Material Technology

MERCK actively promoted its contribution to the development of the domestic advanced display industry by supplying high-performance, high-reliability materials for the realization of advanced displays.

Merck participated in the 2023 Korea Display Industry Exhibition (K-Display 2023) held at COEX in Samseong-dong, Seoul from the 16th to the 18th.

Merck showcased its advanced display material supply technology at this exhibition.

The main products exhibited included: OLED materials and OLED Layers for flexible displays, LiviFlex-AF for anti-fingerprints, OLED Thin Film Encapsulation Film, Optical Deco Film, Photoresist Raw Materials, Negative Tone Photoresist, Positive Tone Photoresist, Dye-doped Liquid Crystals, Liquid Crystal Raw Materials and Mixtures, and various display material technologies.

In particular, the OLED thin film encapsulation film introduced this time won the ‘Display Component of the Year’ award from the Society for Information Display (SID) last May.

This product was first introduced for automotive OLED applications in 2022, and is expected to be a thin film encapsulation technology that will implement IT OLED displays in the future. It is a new OLED thin film encapsulation film with higher flexibility, stability, and longer lifespan in OLED devices.

Merck offers a wide range of OLED material solutions for cutting-edge innovation, from stable materials for vacuum deposition processes to inks for printing processes.

In Korea, we are mass producing and supplying hole transport materials applied to the common layer for OLED panels through the Korea Merck Posung OLED Research Center, and we are actively engaged in the development and stable supply of materials for cutting-edge domestic display panels.

In addition, we have strengthened our OLED material supply capacity by building OLED sublimation purification equipment.

Merck has been actively researching OLED technology for over 20 years, and is collaborating with researchers and panel manufacturers around the world to develop materials specialized for OLED displays, including new types of displays such as rollable, transparent, and foldable.

“We are mass-producing high-performance materials to enable our customers to realize the cutting-edge, high-performance products they want, and we are also providing solutions that enable them to realize cutting-edge products,” said Yong-Guk Yoon, head of Merck Performance Materials’ Electronic Display Solutions division. “We are also developing various encapsulation materials for OLED in preparation for the flexible OLED market, which is expected to grow in the future.”
