Contributing to innovation in K-battery manufacturing and development of sustainable energy sources
Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., a global science company Thermo Fisher (CEO Seok Su-jin) opens a battery customer experience center in Seoul and contributes to innovation in K-battery manufacturing and development of sustainable energy sources.
Thermo Fisher announced on the 14th that it will officially open the 'Battery Customer Experience Center' in Suseo-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
Through its Battery Customer Experience Center, Thermo Fisher plans to work closely with battery manufacturers to enable application support, product demonstrations, training, and innovation in battery manufacturing and quality processes.
Manufacturing companies are also expected to be able to better achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN-SDGs) through the development of next-generation eco-friendly energy solutions by improving quality and ultimately reducing the disposal of lithium-ion batteries based on collaboration in the Customer Experience Center.
Through this center, Thermo Fisher plans to accelerate the development of next-generation clean energy solutions that will help reduce the global dependence on fossil fuels, in line with its mission to “help our customers make the world a healthier, cleaner and safer place.”
The Battery Customer Experience Center integrates a range of cutting-edge solutions, including the Thermo Scientific™ LInspector™ measurement and control system that supports in-line quality control (QC) of lithium-ion batteries, into a single demonstration environment, giving battery manufacturers around the world access to Thermo Fisher’s latest technologies for battery manufacturing through quality control.
Additionally, the center houses application and technical experts in materials characterization, extrusion, rheology, in-line thickness and in-line weight measurement, and product inspection, providing one-stop access to Thermo Fisher’s broad range of analytical instrumentation expertise.
“We are excited to establish a Battery Customer Experience Center in Korea that will help solve today’s manufacturing challenges for the lithium-ion battery industry, from the highest level of technology development to the lowest,” said Miguel Faustino, President of Chemical Analysis at Thermo Fisher Scientific. “This center will provide battery manufacturers with the knowledge and technologies to address the ever-changing demands of the market, helping to increase the resilience of the industry.”
Located in Seoul, the heart of South Korea, the Battery Customer Experience Center will serve as a hub to support battery innovation and production not only domestically but also in key battery end markets such as China.
It also plans to exchange value intelligence in the energy storage sector and support the expansion of Thermo Fisher’s offerings to a wider consumer base with a range of global manufacturers and customers with whom it already works.
Seok Soo-jin, CEO of Thermo Fisher Scientific Korea, said, “As a trusted technology partner to global battery manufacturers, Thermo Fisher is committed to driving innovation across the entire process from R&D to manufacturing and after-sales quality control by concentrating its cutting-edge facilities and the capabilities and know-how of its experts.” He added, “In the future, we will contribute to accelerating the development of sustainable next-generation energy sources by creating synergy with domestic and international customers, partners, and affiliates centered around the Battery Customer Experience Center.”
“We welcome and are very excited about Thermo Fisher opening a customer experience center specializing in batteries,” said Park Cheol-hee, head of the LG Energy Solution Analysis Center. “We will use this center to more effectively verify new electrode measurement technologies and apply the process.” “I hope we can make progress quickly,” he said.
