Supply of supply chain planning and optimization solution 'Delmia Quintic'
Dassault Systèmes is working to build a digital supply chain for BMW’s fifth-generation eDrive production, improving key performance indicators in the manufacturing process by improving the complex automotive supply chain.
Dassault Systèmes announced on the 20th that it is currently implementing a program with the BMW Group to optimize factory performance by digitalizing the production planning and scheduling process.
BMW has introduced Dassault Systèmes' DELMIA Quintiq to its eDrive production facilities in Dingolfing, Leipzig and Regensburg, Germany, to optimize the production and assembly processes of eDrive components. Delmia Quintic is a supply chain and operations planning and optimization solution.
BMW is using Delmia Quintiq’s virtual digital environment to coordinate production planning and scheduling on its parts assembly lines to increase the efficiency of its electric vehicle production.
The BMW eDrive, the fifth-generation pure electric vehicle utilizing BMW's latest technology, is designed as an expandable module, allowing for a variety of applications depending on the vehicle's structure and production region.
Depending on the driver's choice, it uses more advanced technology than existing hybrid vehicles that can run solely on electricity without using gasoline.
Delmia Quintic solutions help reduce installation times and inventory during the production of these next-generation vehicles, enable quicker responses to emergencies such as production stoppages, and lower production costs.
The Delmia Quintic solution will be implemented in all BMW plants located in Germany and will continue to be used for BMW eDrive production going forward, the company said.
“Consumer demand for electric vehicles is growing rapidly, and OEMs are under pressure to optimize their response to this new market,” said Laurence Montanari, Vice President, Transportation and Mobility, Dassault Systèmes. “It is critical to produce specific component parts in a timely manner. Missing a part can directly impact vehicle sales. “By improving the agility and efficiency of the supply chain and better managing large amounts of relevant data, all stakeholders can reduce the risk of supply shortages through new ways of planning production that are connected,” he said.
He also emphasized, “With Dassault Systèmes’ innovative solutions, BMW expects to be able to improve more efficient and faster decision-making, enhance productivity, and improve accurate key performance indicators that reflect business priorities.”
