Schneider Electric and Powermax are joining hands to expand the domestic mold transformer market.
Schneider Electric Korea, a global company in the energy management and automation sector, signed an MOU with Powermax, a leading domestic company in the heavy electric equipment sector, on the 21st to cooperate in expanding the mold transformer market. The signing ceremony was attended by Schneider Electric CEO Kim Kyung-rok, Powermax Chairman Jang Se-chang, CEO Jang Dong-jin, and other officials from both companies.
Through this collaboration, Schneider Electric aims to expand its market share in molded transformers and increase product awareness both domestically and internationally through PowerMax’s extensive domestic distribution and customer service networks.
A mold transformer is a type of transformer that converts electrical energy using insulation from air or dry solids without using fluid. Mold transformers are characterized by high safety because they are non-flammable, easy to maintain, and economical, and are widely used mainly in power supply systems installed indoors.
Schneider Electric introduces Trihal, a cast-iron distribution transformer. The product provides a high level of safety and reliability even under harsh conditions, and can also be monitored by connecting to Schneider Electric's IoT-based digital platform, EcoStruxure.
Schneider emphasizes that “thermal monitoring in particular can easily identify poor-quality electrical connections, extending equipment life and reducing maintenance costs as information can be easily checked.”
Meanwhile, Powermax, established in 2000, is a domestic company that develops and manufactures oil-filled transformers. In the transformer industry, Powermax has proven its sufficient capabilities as a strategic supply partner of Schneider Electric with sales force and distribution network.

“We needed a Korean partner to meet customer demand for molded transformers, and we believe that we will be able to create good synergy through Powermax’s extensive domestic distribution network,” said Kyung-Rok Kim, CEO of Schneider Electric Korea. “Through this collaboration with Powermax, we will further expand the application of Schneider Electric’s molded transformers to fields such as data centers, commercial buildings, and petrochemicals.”
Powermax CEO Jang Dong-jin said, “Powermax’s domestic transformer distribution know-how and Schneider Electric’s highly efficient products will be able to create excellent synergy,” adding, “We will strive to ensure that both companies grow together through active business development, not just with molded transformers.”
