Signing of MOU for cooperation in promoting Global University 30 and RISE projects
Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence, a global leader in digital reality solutions combining sensors, software, and autonomous technologies, and Kyungnam University are seeking to collaborate to jointly develop technologies for the domestic manufacturing industry and strengthen the digital competitiveness of the Gyeongnam region.
Hexagon signed an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Gyeongnam National University on the 25th at Gyeongnam National University to carry out the Global University 30 and RISE (Regional Innovation-Oriented University Support System) projects.
Through this MOU, Hexagon and Gyeongnam National University plan to successfully promote the Ministry of Education’s Global University 30 project and the RISE project.
Gyeongnam National University has pledged to cooperate with Hexagon to expand the scope of Hexagon's solutions utilization in its curriculum and to train personnel to supply Hexagon with the talent it needs, while Hexagon has pledged to strengthen and expand technical support for Hexagon's clients located in the Gyeongnam region.
GlobalUniversity 30 is a Ministry of Education project to create a successful model for universities to enhance global competitiveness through bold innovation and regional partnerships and grow in conjunction with regional strategic industries.
To this end, Gyeongnam National University is promoting the digital transformation of Changwon National Industrial Complex as its core vision.
Kyungnam University will establish a foundation for the successful execution of the 'Glocal University 30 and RISE Project' with global company Hexagon, and will carry out advancement of the talent cultivation system and educational innovation through the RISE project.
In addition, Hexagon plans to collaborate with the Gyeongnam National University’s ultra-large manufacturing AI global joint research center to jointly discover government R&D projects and develop joint technologies.
Through this agreement, the two companies will: △establish a linkage and cooperation system to promote the Global University 30 project and the RISE project; △promote joint corporate customer acquisition and technical support in connection with the digital innovation hub project; △mutually cooperate for training of Hexagon solution experts and technical support; △cooperation in business development and promotion for continuous exchanges and cooperation and joint development between each organization; and △cooperation in other various matters where cooperation is possible.
In particular, Hexagon is supporting the digital transformation of manufacturers in the Gyeongnam region, including the Changwon National Industrial Complex, focusing on the 'Hexagon Innovation Center' that opened in Changwon City early this year. With this MOU as a starting point, Hexagon plans to enhance cooperation and exchange for training professional manpower through various R&D projects and industry-academia collaboration programs utilizing the infrastructure of the Hexagon Innovation Center.
“Kyungnam University will continue to work closely with Hexagon to foster talent that will drive the global competitiveness of the domestic manufacturing industry,” said Hong Jeong-hyo, Vice President for External Affairs and Chairman of the National Policy Promotion Committee at Kyungnam University. “I hope that students will learn the technological capabilities of global companies, build the capabilities needed in actual manufacturing sites, and grow into talents needed in the region.”
“Hexagon is supporting the digital transformation of industrial complexes located in the Gyeongnam region, including Changwon, and is sparing no effort in industry-academia cooperation with educational institutions to foster local talent,” said St. Brian Hexagon, President of Manufacturing Intelligence Korea. “Through continued cooperation with Gyeongnam National University, we will actively support students to utilize Hexagon’s solutions used in domestic and foreign companies and contribute to the digital transformation and strengthening of competitiveness in the manufacturing industry, a key industry in the region.”
