Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence, a global leader in digital reality solutions combining sensors, software, and autonomous technologies, has joined hands with Yeungnam University to foster future vehicle convergence talent.
Hexagon announced on the 21st that it signed an MOU with Yeungnam University to foster talents who will lead the future electric and autonomous vehicle convergence component industry ecosystem, leading the electric vehicle convergence component field.
At the MOU signing ceremony held at Yeungnam University, Professor Kwon Seong-jin of the Department of Future Automobile Engineering at Yeungnam University (head of the Future Automobile Convergence Major) and Hong Heung-seop, head of the Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence Channel Sales Group, signed on behalf of the two parties, promising continued cooperation and support for Hexagon solutions for the training of practical talent.
Based on this agreement, Hexagon will promote academic and educational cooperation in the field of future automobiles, such as joint research and education, seminars, and material and human exchanges to secure competitiveness in the future mobility field in the Yeongnam region.
The Department of Future Automotive Engineering at Yeungnam University is participating in the 'Local Government-University Cooperation-Based Regional Innovation Project (RIS)' supported by the Ministry of Education. In addition, through the operation of the Electric Vehicle Convergence Components Track at Daegu Gyeongbuk Innovation University (DGM), we are fostering convergence talents in the future automobile field.
Through this MOU, students from universities in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions, including Yeungnam University, participating in the track will be granted licenses for design engineering solutions, including Hexagon's autonomous driving simulation solution 'Virtual Test Drive (VTD)' worth billions of won, and will undergo practical training using solutions closely related to real-world applications.
Professor Kwon Seong-jin, head of the Future Vehicle Convergence Department at Yeungnam University, said, “In order to foster experts in the next-generation electric and autonomous vehicle convergence components field, which is essential for strengthening the competitiveness of the domestic mobility industry, it is necessary to develop an educational program closely related to practical work.” He continued, “Through cooperation with Hexagon, which is leading the digital transformation of the manufacturing industry, I hope that students will have advance access to manufacturing solutions used in the field and receive practical help in strengthening the competitiveness of local talent.”
Additionally, Hexagon will be holding a special lecture from June 24th to 28th where students participating in the Electric Vehicle Convergence Components Track at Daegu Gyeongbuk Innovation University can learn how to use the company's solutions and see practical examples of their use.
Lectures held during the summer vacation period will be conducted directly by Hexagon engineers, and the company plans to utilize its own design engineering solutions, such as VTD and ‘Adams’, provided to students.
Hexagon's VTD is an integrated toolkit for road and rail-based simulation, providing complex traffic environment and sensor simulation to create a complete environment for autonomous driving system development and verification.
Hong Heung-seop, head of the Channel Sales Group at Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence Korea, said, “Hexagon is sparing no effort in supporting the development of next-generation talent through industry-academia cooperation with many domestic universities.dquo; He said, “Through continuous cooperation with Yeungnam University, we will support students to utilize Hexagon’s solutions in the field, and we will actively work to contribute to strengthening technological competitiveness and digital transformation in the future mobility manufacturing sector in the Yeongnam region.”
