Tested in a typical PC environment without changing the actual embedded system SW.

Kuntec (CEO Bang Hyuk-jun), a DX security & embedded virtualization specialist, is expected to be able to support the strengthening of stability and security of system operation in the nuclear power plant sector by supplying its self-developed solution, 'FastVLabs', to Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP), becoming the first in the world to apply nuclear power plant digital twin technology based on hardware virtualization technology.

Kuntec announced on the 12th that it has supplied 'FastVLabs', an embedded virtualization solution that supports the construction of a digital twin of a safety system controller (PLC) based on hardware virtualization technology, to Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power through cooperation with Susan ENS.

This case is significant in that it is based on Level 4, the highest level of independent hardware virtualization technology.

Fast V Labs, which was recently supplied to Hansuwon, was developed using Kuntec's proprietary hardware virtualization technology.

FastVLabs is based on Level 4 virtualization, the highest level of hardware virtualization, allowing testing without changes to software to be installed on actual embedded systems in a general PC environment.

Especially fastiLabs builds a digital twin system through integration with various simulators, establishing an integrated verification system. It also digitalizes hardware targets and links them to software development environments for 24/7 testing.

Additionally, it can flexibly address issues such as decreased development efficiency and discontinuation of hardware components due to lack of hardware targets during the development period, thereby reducing costs and promoting technological innovation throughout the entire product life cycle.

Bang Hyuk-jun, CEO of Kuntek, said, “Digital twins have many advantages when applied to fields with many limitations in real-world testing, such as nuclear power plants, because they can perform various tests such as design, verification, and test runs of systems in a virtual environment.” He added, “In order to build a digital twin, not only an understanding of hardware and software but also specialized technology related to virtualization must be supported. Kuntek will be able to supply digital twins to various fields such as defense, aviation, and automobiles through Fast V Labs, which was developed based on advanced technologies accumulated through experience in various embedded virtualization projects, and support the strengthening of stability and security in system operation.”

Meanwhile, the hardware virtualization-based digital twin technology of Kuntec and Susan ENS has recently been designated as the preferred bidder for a large-scale nuclear power plant project in the Czech Republic by Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) and a consortium of domestic nuclear power companies, raising expectations that Korea's world's first digital twin technology through hardware virtualization may be expanded and applied in the future in conjunction with additional nuclear power plant orders.
