Discussing electric vehicle charging security standardization, etc.… Establishing a connected mobility ecosystem
Expanding the scope of the mobility industry beyond automobiles to encompass ground and air mobility The automobile industry, autonomous driving, semiconductors, communications, and software industries, academia, and research institutes are actively promoting collaboration between different industries, such as automobiles and information and communications technology (ICT).
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) held the general meeting of the public-private joint 'Connected Mobility Alliance' to foster a connected mobility industry ecosystem at the Songdo Convensia Grand Ballroom on November 3.
The 'Connected Mobility Alliance' was launched in November of last year with 37 organizations in 4 divisions (electrical component systems, convergence security, service platform, and mobility), and has expanded its scope beyond automobiles to include the mobility industry including ground and air mobility, and has also expanded the number of participating organizations to 88.
Over the past year, the alliance has discussed various collaborative tasks, including standardizing electric vehicle charging security, demonstrating interoperability between companies, and cooperating on the development of autonomous driving systems, thereby establishing a connected mobility collaboration ecosystem.
By 2024, we will create tangible results, such as practical collaboration cases between more than 20 companies, and become a representative cluster in Germany. We are pursuing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on standardization and joint research cooperation with 'ITS MOBILITY', the organizer of the Car2Car consortium that develops communication standards in cooperation with the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), and plan to initiate a large-scale demonstration project in Europe through a local office in Germany.
Park Dong-il, director general of the Manufacturing Industry Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, said in his congratulatory remarks, “I hope that the Connected Car Mobility Alliance will become a stepping stone for further advancing the competitiveness of the future mobility industry and a key driving force leading the industrial ecosystem.” He added, “The government will actively support establishing a technology development roadmap, building big data for data standardization, and strengthening the cybersecurity response system.”
