The purpose is to expand information sharing and collaboration based on exchanges between members of the mobility industry and the asset management industry.
Covers a wide range of topics including battery thermal runaway response measures, battery industry, and supply chain issues The Korea Automobile Research Institute (hereinafter referred to as KARI) has established a venue for diverse communication between related companies on issues and trends in the battery materials industry.
On the 16th, Hanjayeon held the 3rd 'Jasan Eobo' event on the topic of battery materials at the COEX Startup Branch in Seoul.
The event was attended by approximately 120 experts in the battery materials industry and government officials, including Na Seung-sik, President of Hanjayeon, Shin Dong-seok, PL of LG Energy Solution’s Next-Generation Battery Development Center, and Choi Jong-seo, General Manager of the Korea Battery Industry Association.
The Jasan Eobo event hosted by Hanjayeon is an abbreviation for ‘Uniting and Supporting the Automobile Industry’ and is a regular networking event for the mobility industry that aims to share useful information and expand collaboration among members based on regular meetings and exchanges among members of the mobility industry.

This third event was themed on battery materials, and covered a wide range of topics including the issue of 'safety', which is the most urgent task to be solved to ensure the reliability and popularization of electric vehicles, as well as industry, policy, and development trends.
Eom Ji-yong, senior researcher at Hanjayeon Chemical Materials Technology Division, presented on ‘Causes of battery thermal runaway, countermeasures, and development direction of next-generation battery materials,’ and Choi Jong-seo, general manager of the Korea Battery Industry Association, spoke on ‘Global battery industry/policy trends and supply chain issues.’
At the event, key figures from four key players in the battery materials industry were also invited to introduce their companies.
Shin Dong-seok, PL of LG Energy Solution’s Next-Generation Battery Development Center, Kim Seong-ju, Director of Korea 3M Technology Research Institute, Kim Joo-seong, CEO of Libest, and Lee Joo-hyeok, CEO of Cosmos Lab, presented their respective companies’ technologies and trends in the battery industry, revealing the future of K-batteries.
In addition, in line with the topic of battery materials, Hanjayeon operated a technology consultation consulting booth comprised of researchers from the Chemical Materials Technology Division and New Materials Technology Division under the Chassis and Materials Technology Research Institute of the research institute, as well as a corporate support consulting booth that provided guidance on battery-related technology transfer and support for future vehicle education and training, to discover new partner companies and actively support companies by helping to resolve technological difficulties.
Na Seung-sik, the president of Hanjayeon, said, “The three major topics in the industry related to batteries, which are the core of eco-friendly electric vehicles, are safety, cost reduction, and improved energy density (driving distance)."Through this event, we will communicate about the three major topics and industry, policy, and development trends, and lay the foundation for cooperation between companies, thereby contributing to the development of the domestic battery materials industry and, further, to the popularization of eco-friendly electric vehicles," he said.
