Casper Electric, equipped with 49kWh NCM battery… 315km driving range
Hydrogen value chain brand HTWO and comprehensive hydrogen business solution HTWO Grid announced
Hyundai Motor Company presented its vision for electrification with the Casper Electric, a compact electric vehicle that will lead the popularization of electric vehicles, and announced its intention to transition to a hydrogen ecosystem through its hydrogen value chain business brand, 'HTWO', thereby presenting Hyundai Motor Company's future mobility blueprint for a sustainable future.
Hyundai Motor Company, which unveiled the Ioniq 6 at the 2022 Busan Motor Show (formerly known as the Busan Mobility Show), featured the 'compact' electric vehicle Casper Electric as the main attraction at the Busan Mobility Show Press Day (27th).

The Casper Electric (based on the directional model, 15-inch wheels, and 120kW charger) is equipped with a 49kWh NCM battery, has a driving range of 315km, and can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 30 minutes, making it ideal for city driving. It is expected.
The price has not been officially announced, but it is expected that the actual purchase price will be in the early to mid 20 million won range, as it is expected to receive many subsidy benefits due to the NCM battery installation.
This model does not use Hyundai Motor Group's electric vehicle-only platform E-GMP.
The recently released Kia EV3 model featured E-GMP, but it appears that it was difficult to apply it to the smaller Casper Electric.
The Casper Electric is longer and wider than the existing internal combustion model, excluding the overall height.

Hyundai Motor Company explained, “In particular, the wheelbase has been increased by 180mm compared to the existing model, which has improved high-speed driving stability and provided more spacious legroom in the second row. In addition, the trunk length has been increased by 100mm, increasing cargo space by 47ℓ compared to the previous 233ℓ, thereby improving space efficiency.”
Among the safety features applied to this car, the Pedal Misoperation Safety Assist (PMSA) function stands out, which prevents accidents by limiting output or applying emergency braking if the driver suddenly operates the accelerator pedal when the driver judges that the pedal has been misoperated.
It is a technology that can protect both drivers and third parties from accidents caused by driver error, and it also deals with issues related to sudden acceleration, which is a sensitive issue for automobile companies. It is also interpreted that it was applied to respond.
Simon Losby, Executive Director of Hyundai Design Center, who appeared at the Busan Mobility Show press day (27th) to announce the Casper Electric, answered that the part of the Casper Electric design that he likes the most is the robot-faced badge engraved on the rear door.

In addition, a special exhibition of Casper Electric along with the Ioniq 5 will be held at Busan Station Plaza from Friday, June 28 to Sunday, July 7 during the 2024 Busan Mobility Show.
Hyundai Motor Company will operate a Casper Electric customer experience exhibition in front of Apgujeong Rodeo Station (Gangnam-gu, Seoul) from July 12 (Fri) to 21 (Sun) for customers who cannot attend the 2024 Busan Mobility Show, and will give away one Casper Electric to the visitor who wins first place in the on-site event.
Jeong Yoo-seok, Executive Vice President and Head of Domestic Business Division at Hyundai Motor Company, said, “It is an honor to be able to introduce the Casper Electric for the first time in the world to visitors to the Hyundai Motor Company Pavilion,” and added, “Please show lots of interest and love for the Casper Electric, which will lead the popularization of electric vehicles.”

Casper Electric plans to begin taking pre-orders for the long-range model in July, and sequentially introduce the basic and cross models later.

HTWO provides an optimized customized package by combining unit solutions (grids) at all stages of hydrogen production, storage, transportation, and utilization according to the diverse environmental characteristics and needs of customers based on the capabilities of each affiliate within the group.
Hyundai Motor Company plans to drive the growth of the hydrogen business from production to utilization by connecting the entire value chain of the hydrogen industry through the HTWO Grid solution.
Hyundai Motor Company exhibited its public mobility concepts, ‘Space Mobility’ and ‘Space Pavilion’, for the first time in Korea to convey the hydrogen society, which may feel like a story of a somewhat distant future, to customers at eye level.
In addition, we plan to create a consensus among customers visiting the site by operating a permanent mini showcase that explains the functions and roles of hydrogen energy circulation and mobility.
In addition, the current hydrogen mobility, the Accent hydrogen truck, was turned into a playground for children called the Accent Arcade, and the principles of hydrogen electricity were designed to be experienced through offline games such as Roblox, creating a sustainable environment. We convey the value of hydrogen as an energy source to children, the future beneficiaries.
At the press conference held that day, Park Chul-yeon, executive director and head of Hyundai Motor Company’s Global Hydrogen Business Division, stated, “Hyundai Motor Company has proven itself as a leader in the hydrogen industry with the world’s best-selling hydrogen passenger car, Nexo, and the Xcient hydrogen electric truck already in operation in 10 countries,” adding, “Through HTWO, we will provide differentiated solutions to the entire hydrogen value chain and accelerate the realization of a hydrogen society.”
