■ Please introduce the UAM motor-driven demo machine newly produced by Asung Korea.
The newly-built UAM (Urban Air Mobility) motor-driven demonstrator is aimed at demonstrating an electric motor-driven system for urban air mobility.
UAM is a next-generation transportation system that enables efficient and rapid movement within the city, and eco-friendly technologies such as electric motors are key elements.
This demo unit has the following specifications: △High-efficiency brushless DC motor (BLDC) △Maximum output power: 200 kW (Starpower SiC Power Module) △Rotation speed up to 3500 RPM △Voltage range: 400 V to 800 V △Air-cooled cooling method △Total weight: 30 kg (including fixing mechanism).
Key features include high efficiency, lightweight design, and stability.
By adopting a BLDC motor boasting a conversion efficiency of over 90%, energy consumption is minimized and driving distance is maximized.
Additionally, lightweight materials and structures were used to reduce the weight of the aircraft, and various safety features were built in to ensure that the motor operates stably even in overheating, overcurrent, and overvoltage situations.
Technical features include the application of the latest vector control technology for motor control, which enables precise speed and torque control, and the motor, battery, and cooling system.It is equipped with an ECU that comprehensively manages the stem, etc., maximizing system efficiency.
In addition, a system was applied that supports various communication interfaces such as CAN and Ethernet to enable seamless integration with other vehicle systems.
Asung has completed an efficient and stable design through various simulations and optimization processes, and has also completed basic performance verification by producing an initial prototype.
This UAM motor-driven demonstrator is expected to contribute significantly to the development of sustainable urban transportation as a technology that leads the future of electric aircraft.
■ What is Asung Korea’s UAM market strategy?
