Expected to expand autonomous freight service using highways through infrastructure construction and support Korea Expressway Corporation and Masauto signed a business agreement to explore improvement measures for creating a safe autonomous driving environment on highways through the operation of a highway pilot operation zone service and to activate practical autonomous driving services.
Korea Expressway Corporation announced on the 10th that it signed a business agreement with Masauto at the Pangyo EX Smart Center to expand autonomous driving services using highways.
Korea Expressway Corporation will cooperate in ▲operating a highway autonomous vehicle test operation zone ▲providing road information for safe autonomous driving ▲providing various infrastructure facilities, and Masauto will ▲develop autonomous vehicles and operate cargo transport services ▲share operation data for safe driving.
With the revised Autonomous Vehicle Act going into effect, designation of highway pilot operation zones became possible starting July 10. Korea Expressway Corporation is currently pushing to have some sections of the Gyeongbu Expressway and others designated as pilot operation zones within this year.
