Successful communication with Etiphos SIRIUS platform Autotalks SECTON3 chipset
Keysight Technologies, Inc., a leading technology company that helps enterprises, service providers and governments accelerate innovation to connect and secure the world, has conducted the world’s first 3GPP Release 16 (Rel-16) sidelink over-the-air interoperability testing between the Effifos SIRIUS 5G-V2X Sidelink Platform and the Autotalks SECTON3 5G-V2X chipset, using Keysight’s PathWave signal generation for NR-V2X and X-App for 5G NR V2X modulation analysis measurement applications.
Keysight Technologies, Inc. announced that its Etifos SIRIUS platform, using Keysight PathWave signal generation and X-apps for 5G NR vehicle-to-everything (V2X) modulation analysis and measurement applications, successfully communicated with the Autotalks SECTON3 chipset using the sidelink profile defined in the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) EN 303 798 standard.
Keysight's NR V2X test solution provides rigorous physical layer testing to ensure reliable, interference-free communications, paving the way for the advancement of 5G-V2X direct communications. Additionally, successful sidelink wireless interoperability testing demonstrates the readiness of device and chip manufacturers to support advanced V2X services and applications with their products.
As demand for connected cars soars and autonomous driving gains momentum, there are specific requirements for successful implementation of 5G for vehicles. Sidelink communications, a key feature of cellular vehicle-to-everything (C-V2X) communications, allows vehicles to share information and other elements of the road system independently of the network. Based on the Rel-16 standard, the 5G New Radio (NR) V2X specification will deliver high throughput, improved reliability, and low latency while enabling vehicles to share rich real-time data that supports autonomous and connected driving experiences.
“This cross-vendor conformance test is a pivotal moment in the evolution of 5G vehicle-to-everything, enabling Etiforce to demonstrate the world’s first software-upgradeable 5G-V2X onboard unit to provide reliable, interference-free communications for road safety and convenience applications, while mutually validating interoperability with Keysight and Autotalks’ 5G-V2X solutions,” said Kangmin Lee, chief operating officer of Etiforce. “The collaboration between Keysight, Etiforce and Autotalks represents a joint approach to advancing 5G-V2X and brings us one step closer to realizing global mass deployment.”
“The success of the 3GPP Release 16 5G-V2X interoperability event once again confirms that Autotalks’ third generation chipsets are ready for mass deployment and is another successful example of Autotalks’ proven track record in 3GPP Release 14 and Release 15 LTE-V2X and ITS-G5 technologies,” said Amos Freund, Vice President of Research and Development at Autotalks.
“We are pleased to bring Keysight’s test solutions and measurement expertise to Autotalks and Etiforce to help advance 5G direct vehicle-to-everything communications,” said Thomas Goetzl, vice president and general manager of Keysight’s Automotive and Energy Solutions business. “The Release 16 5G-V2X interoperability testing is a significant step forward in realizing the full potential of 5G-V2X technology and will enable safer, more connected and more efficient transportation systems worldwide.”We believe that this will pave the way for TEM, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration with Autotalks and Etiforce to explore new horizons in 5G technology in the future.”
