Infineon Launches Automotive IC for Body Control and Power Distribution
Infineon Technologies' new power IC manufacturing technology SMART7 is designed for automotive applications such as Body Control Modules (BCM) and Power Distribution Centers (PDC). Power ICs based on SMART7 technology drive, diagnose, and protect loads in applications including automotive heaters, power distribution, air conditioning, interior and exterior lighting, seat and mirror adjustment, and cost-effectively replace electromechanical relays and fuses in a robust manner. Based on thin-film wafer technology, SMART7 reduces power loss and chip size. Infineon has launched the high-side power switch product families PROFET™+2 and High Current PROFET™ based on SMART7, and plans to introduce the SPOC™+2 multichannel SPI high-side power controller within one year.

Infineon Sponsors Intelligent Model Car Competition
Infineon Technologies officially sponsors the Intelligent Model Car Competition organized by Hanyang University's Future Automotive Research Institute and Department of Future Automotive Engineering. The 2017 Intelligent Model Car Competition will be held on the 13th (Thursday) at Hanyang University's Olympic Gymnasium, with participation from approximately 50 universities nationwide, 100 teams, and over 450 university students. Participating university students used a board comprising Infineon's 32-bit multicore microcontroller unit (MCU) AURIX™ and motor driving IC to directly fabricate model cars for the competition by applying environmental perception, control algorithm design, and motor control technology. The competition divides all participating teams into two groups to complete the track, from which the top 20 teams are selected to compete in the finals.

[e4ds Tech Day 2026 ⑧] Seung-taek Jang, Keysight Director: "The Bottleneck in SDV Era is Verification, Not Development"
Seung-taek Jang, Director at Keysight Technologies, presented at e4ds Tech Day 2026 on the topic of "Beyond Complexity to Confidence: Integrated V&V (Validation & Verification) Strategy for SDV Development," emphasizing that "the real bottleneck in SDV development is integration and verification, not development itself." In the SDV era, vehicle architecture becomes increasingly complex with OTA, cybersecurity, AI, V2X, and zonal architecture, with verification scope expanding beyond individual ECUs to the entire vehicle platform. Defects tend to occur at the boundaries between four domains—Automotive Ethernet, HPC, OTA, and V2X—making an integrated V&V system essential. The "Reusable Test Asset" that reuses identical scenarios from SiL to HiL through field testing and the Shift-Left strategy that advances verification to early stages determine SDV quality and cost competitiveness.

[e4ds Tech Day 2026 ⑦] PopcornSAR CEO Chae Seung-yeop, "SDV Orders Difficult Without AI-Native Systems"
PopcornSAR CEO Chae Seung-yeop presented on 'AI-Native SDV Development Architecture: Practical Methods for Converting Legacy C to MBD·AUTOSAR Development Systems' at e4ds Tech Day 2026, emphasizing that "AI is no longer optional but has become an evaluation criterion determining orders and survival." In the SDV era, vehicle software development is being reorganized around companies with AI-native systems, and it has become an essential requirement with 20~35% of technical evaluation points allocated to AI and automation capabilities in domestic bidding processes. Development periods are being compressed from the existing one year to approximately four months, and Japan and China have already implemented AI-based full-process automation to drive new vehicle development within 18 months. Since generic AI alone cannot satisfy AUTOSAR and A-SPICE requirements, PopcornSAR has established ontology-based knowledge systems and the AI SDV platform PARVIS to automate requirements, design, code, and testing. The hybrid development approach combining AI and rule-based engines is effective, and developers are shifting from the role of writing code to reviewing and judging AI results.
