Supply of up to 2,000 tons of hydrogen per year from September 2026
Deokyang Gas (CEO Lee Chi-yoon) is embarking on building a hydrogen charging station based on blue hydrogen.
On the 27th, Deokyang Gas signed an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) for investment in building blue hydrogen charging infrastructure with the attendance of Ulsan City, Ulsan Mayor Kim Du-gyeom, and Deokyang Gas CEO Lee Chi-yoon.
According to this investment agreement, Deokyang Gas will invest KRW 18 billion in a site (11,860㎡) in the Bugok Yongyeon District of the Ulsan-Mipo National Industrial Complex to build a blue hydrogen charging base (infrastructure) by August 2026.
Blue hydrogen is hydrogen that reduces carbon dioxide emissions by utilizing carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology.
The blue hydrogen charging infrastructure is an essential facility in the hydrogen distribution process that stores the produced hydrogen and loads it into hydrogen tube trailers at high pressure (200 bar).
Starting in September 2026, it is expected to supply up to 2,000 tons of hydrogen per year, which is enough to power 400,000 hydrogen passenger cars.
Lee Chi-yoon, CEO of Deokyang Gas, said, “I would like to thank Ulsan City for its interest and administrative support in building this blue hydrogen charging infrastructure,” and “With this investment, we will contribute to the further development of Ulsan as a hydrogen city.”
Meanwhile, Deokyang Gas is a high-pressure gas manufacturing and sales company located in Buk-gu, Ulsan. It is headquartered in Seoul, South Korea. Founded in 1964, it produces and supplies industrial gases such as hydrogen and also participates in gas-related technology development (engineering) projects.
