보다 간편한 첨단기술 공유 시장을 선도하고 있는 아반시(Avanci)가 ATSC 3.0 방송 표준을 위한 특허권자가 추가로 합류해 라이선싱 프로세스를 간소화한다.
Owns more than 80% of essential patents for ATSC 3.0 broadcasting standard
Avanci, a leader in the market for simpler, cutting-edge technology sharing, is simplifying its licensing process by joining as an additional patent holder for the ATSC 3.0 broadcast standard.
Avanci announced that new patent holders based in Korea, Netherlands, Japan and China have joined Avanci Broadcast, which launched in March 2023.
The Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), Dutch telecommunications company KPN, Japanese telecommunications and electronics conglomerate NEC, and China's digital broadcasting research institute NERC-DTV have made significant contributions to the ATSC 3.0 and NextGenTV standards by utilizing their talented personnel. With the addition of these companies, Avantji Broadcast is now one of the initial patent holders, licensing more than 80% of the essential patents for the ATSC 3.0 standard.
Avansi Broadcast, an independent intermediary that streamlines the licensing process, offers manufacturers of products such as TVs and set-top boxes a single contract that covers all ATSC 3.0 standard essential patents (SEPs) of all patent holders on the platform, eliminating the need for manufacturers to enter into separate bilateral agreements with patent holders.
Existing Avansi Broadcast licensees, including LG Electronics, Samsung Electronics, Sharp, and Sony, can now use the new licensor’s ATSC 3.0 standard-related SEPs at no additional cost, increasing the value of their licenses. Currently, Avansi Broadcast is offering favorable terms for early signing to new licensees.
“Avansi’s market-based solutions support the adoption and growth of NextGenTV by removing licensing uncertainty,” said Ilkka Rahnasto, Senior Vice President of Avansi Broadcast. “We are grateful for the trust and support of our existing partners as well as the new patent holders.”
