System detection rate increased by 20%, reducing annual opportunity loss cost by 7.4 billion won
SK Hynix announced on the 21st that it had received final approval for TMMi (Test Maturity Model integration) Level 3 certification, an internationally recognized competency assessment model in the software (SW) testing field, and held a certificate presentation ceremony.
TMMi is a model developed to evaluate the maturity of software (hereinafter referred to as SW) testing organizations and improve processes, and is an internationally recognized official evaluation model in the SW testing field.
SK Hynix expects that by obtaining this certification, it will improve the system defect detection rate by 20% and reduce the opportunity loss cost due to system failure by approximately KRW 7.4 billion per year. It also expects to reduce additional costs by approximately KRW 300 million per year by improving work efficiency by 15%.
It was also evaluated as an opportunity to demonstrate SK Hynix's IT QA (Quality Assurance) capabilities and enhance its global technical capabilities related to SW testing.
The evaluation scope was the entire ‘testing process’, and the TAM (TMMi Assessment Method) was used for evaluation. This is a TMMi evaluation index, and the practices that must be met to achieve the step-by-step goals are defined. The score is calculated based on the presence or absence of the practices, and the lower level is dependent on the higher level. For example, when obtaining the 3-level certification, the 2-level certification is also recognized.

This evaluation was conducted on five items at Level 2 and Level 3. As a result of the evaluation, SK Hynix received a Level 2 and Level 3 FA (Fully Achieved) grade. This means that all practices defined by TAM (86% or more) were reflected in the test process.
STA Testing Consulting Senior Manager Youngjae Choi said, “We conducted a preliminary evaluation, and all the improvement points we reported at that time were reflected before the official evaluation,” and “SK Hynix’s quality capabilities and testing awareness were very high.”
STA Testing Consulting CEO Kwon Won-il evaluated the achievement by saying, “It is very meaningful as it is the first Level 3 certification in the domestic semiconductor industry,” and DT Development Operation Manager Lee Chang-soo said, “The greatest achievement was creating a culture in which members think about quality, and this certification is significant in that it has upgraded the culture of continuously improving the Test Process and thinking about what Test activities can be helpful to our organization and company.”
