Recruiting women and young talents with technical skills, injecting diversity and dynamism into the organization
Product competitiveness and customer first, speed and flexibility achieved by reducing decision-making hierarchy
SK Hynix announced on the 1st that it had carried out an organizational restructuring and executive appointments for 2023 after a board of directors report. The company explained the significance of this restructuring and appointments as, “In order to wisely overcome the recent downturn in the semiconductor industry, we have reorganized the organization to increase speed, flexibility, expertise, and diversity, and further pursue greater future growth, thereby turning the crisis into an opportunity.”
First, SK Hynix will establish a ‘Global Strategy’ under ‘Future Strategy’ to respond to global uncertainty and geopolitical issues. In addition, to effectively respond to the deployment of global production facilities and regional issues, a ‘Global Operation TF’ will be established under the CEO, and Future Technology Research Institute’s Cha Seon-yong will concurrently serve as the TF head.
In order to improve product and customer support competitiveness in line with the rapid changes in the global business environment, we have also decided to pursue changes in the 'GSM (Global Sales & Marketing)' organization.
GSM is largely divided into ‘Global Sales’, which handles overseas sales, and ‘Marketing/Product Planning’, and the two organizations plan to further increase their specialization and perform more specialized roles. Kim Joo-sun, who was in charge of the 'Americas' organization, was appointed as the GSM manager.
Next, SK Hynix decided to reduce its internal decision-making system to increase the speed and flexibility of management decisions.
The company plans to abolish the existing safety development manufacturing and business management organizations and speed up decision-making between the CEO and key organization executives. In addition, the company has designated ‘safety’ as the most important value that a company should pursue, and has appointed Kim Young-sik, who is in charge of the largest number of field organization members, as CSO (Chief Safety Officer).
Lastly, SK Hynix decided to boldly select young and talented technical talents to solidify its future growth foundation and increase the diversity and dynamism of the organization.
In this personnel change, the company appointed a new female executive with high technical capabilities, Eun-Jeong Ko, and selected Myeong-Jae Park, born in 1980, as a next-generation technical talent.
SK Hynix Vice Chairman Park Jung-ho emphasized, “Through this reorganization and executive appointments, the company will challenge itself to change beyond its own limitations,” and “Through this, we will awaken our strong DNA in the face of crises and make a new leap forward toward becoming a true global first-class technology company.”
