ST마이크로일렉트로닉스가 블루투스 LE 5.3 인증과 무선 장치 승인을 빠르게 돕는 MCU 신제품을 출시하며, 개발자들의 무선 제품 개발을 빠르고 간편하게 돕는다.
Supports easy and fast wireless product development
STMicroelectronics, a global semiconductor leader serving customers across the spectrum of electronics applications, is helping developers accelerate and simplify wireless product development with new MCUs that help accelerate Bluetooth LE 5.3 certification and wireless device approval.
ST announced on the 20th that it has released a new STM32 Bluetooth radio module. This product can take advantage of the STM32WB microcontroller (MCU) in projects targeting small to medium-sized production volumes.
Additionally, the module combines Bluetooth® Low Energy 5.3 certification, worldwide radio device approvals, and support for the STM32Cube ecosystem to help simplify product development and accelerate time to market.
The STM32WB1MMC all-in-one module helps reduce supply chain issues and lead-time concerns, and cuts certification costs and time.
Delivered as a complete reference design in the LGA package, the STM32WB1MMC includes all components required for wireless product functionality and is built with an optimal bill of materials (BoM) and economical PCB technology.
In addition to the internal antenna and optimized matching network, a convenient pin is also provided to connect an external antenna instead of the internal antenna if needed.
RF performance of up to +6dBm output power, -96dBm reception sensitivity, and optimized signal routing ensure stable communication over long distances at data rates of up to 2Mbit/s.
A switching-mode power supply is also built in for the subsystem. By manufacturing the entire module in-house, ST simplifies supply and support for customers and ensures long-term availability under ST’s 10-year supply assurance plan.
The module is based on the STM32WB15 MCU with 320KB Flash and 48KB RAM. The MCU's Arm® Cortex®-M0+ and Cortex-M4 dual-core architecture ensures real-time performance for both the M0+-based wireless subsystem and the user application running on the M4.
It is equipped with a Bluetooth 5.3 stack and profiles, supporting advanced features such as Advertising Extensions. Designed to minimize energy consumption, the MCU offers flexible power-management modes, including Standby and Stop2 modes, to support long-term, uninterrupted operation in battery-powered devices. The module makes it easy to leverage the full capabilities of the STM32WB15, including a 12-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC), a variety of digital interfaces, and interfaces.
The STM32WB1MMC module and its supporting B-WB1M-WPAN1[1] evaluation board are fully integrated into the STM32Cube environment, just like the existing STM32WB5MMG module with larger Flash and SRAM.
Therefore, software development is very convenient, just like developing STM32WB MCUs.
The STM32CubeWB MCU package provides resources including Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) firmware, low-layer APIs, file system, and RTOS. Because the package is shared with other STM32WB MCUs, existing projects can be ported directly to the module, maximizing flexibility and speeding up project completion.
The STM32WB1MMC module is in production now, priced at $5.32 for orders of 10,000 pieces.
