Miniaturization of microsystems and position detection possible
Infineon Technologies (Korea CEO Seung-Soo Lee) is launching a new TMR sensor product that enables miniaturization of microsystems by reducing sensor size with high integration density and enables precise length measurement, responding to the development of various industrial and consumer applications.
Infineon today announced the launch of the XENSIV™ TLI5590-A6W magnetic position sensor, combining its proven magnetic position sensor expertise with linearized Tunnel Magnetoresistance (TMR) technology.
This sensor is available in a wafer-level package and is well suited for linear and angular incremental position sensing.
This device is suitable for industrial and consumer applications according to JEDEC standard JESD47K and can be used as a replacement for optical encoders and resolvers. It is ideally suited for lens positioning for zoom and focus adjustment of cameras.
The TLI5590 is a low field sensor that uses Infineon's TMR technology developed for high-volume sensor systems.
As a result, they offer ultra-high sensitivity, low jitter, and low power consumption. Compared to linear Hall sensors, TMR sensors have better linearity, lower noise, and lower hysteresis. High signal-to-noise ratio and low power enable cost-effective magnetic designs with low battery consumption.
The new sensor can accurately detect rapidly changing directions. The TLI5590 consists of two TMR Wheatstone bridges, whose TMR resistance varies depending on the direction and strength of the external magnetic field.
When used with multipole magnets, each bridge provides differential output signals, such as sine and cosine signals, which can be further processed for relative position measurements.
The sensor is available in an ultra-small 6-ball wafer-level package, SG-WFWLB-6-3. It enables miniaturization and position detection of microsystems by reducing the sensor size with high integration density.
The TLI5590-A6W enables precise measurements with very high accuracies better than 10 μm using suitable linear or rotary magnetic encoders.
The extended operating temperature range of up to +125°C allows the TLI5590-A6W to be used flexibly in a wide range of industrial and consumer applications. Its high temperature stability also makes it ideal for use in harsh environments.
