In the second quarter of 2024, Korea continued to rank second after China in the global semiconductor equipment market.
SEMI, an industry association representing the global electronics industry supply chain, announced that semiconductor equipment billings for the second quarter of 2024 were $26.8 billion, up 4% year-over-year and 1% quarter-over-quarter.
By country, China maintained its undisputed first place with a 62% increase year-on-year to $12.1 billion, followed by Korea, which recorded second place with a 20% decrease year-on-year to $4.52 billion.
Taiwan's revenue was $3.9 billion, down 31% year-on-year but up 66% from the previous quarter.
North America fell 19% year-on-year to $2.4 billion, while Japan rose 6% year-on-year to $1.6 billion.
“Global semiconductor equipment billings for the first half of 2024 showed a healthy performance, totaling $53.2 billion,” said Ajit Manocha, CEO of SEMI. “The semiconductor equipment market is returning to growth driven by increasing demand for advanced technologies and strategic investments to build semiconductor manufacturing ecosystems in various countries.”
