IAR, Functional Safety Solutions Seminar 2024
Used in various industries such as automobiles, automation, medical, and home appliances
IAR, a global provider of embedded development software and services, has presented a one-stop solution for efficient functional safety certification required in various industries such as automotive, industrial automation, medical, and home appliances.
IAR announced that it recently held the 'FSG Solution Seminar 2024' at COEX in Samseong-dong together with member companies of the Functional Safety Group (FSG), a consortium for enhancing functional safety.
The FSG Consortium is a private consultative body launched in March with the goal of supporting functional safety certification for embedded system developers and related companies and contributing to the improvement of product development capabilities. Embedded software solution development companies, semiconductor specialists, test solution companies, and certification and consulting solution companies are participating in the consortium.
“As the introduction of robots and autonomous driving expands due to the trend toward industrial automation and intelligence, functional safety to ensure the safety of system assets as well as workers has become a necessity rather than an option,” said Lee Young-hoo, manager at IAR Korea. “On the other hand, companies are not familiar with the procedures and processes for obtaining related certifications, so they have to spend a lot of time, money, and effort. FSG said, “From hardware to software and certification, we help companies obtain functional safety certification more efficiently by forming an integrated ecosystem with specialized companies in each field and providing one-stop solutions.”
This seminar, themed 'Efficient Functional Safety Certification and Time Saving with Innovative Solutions', introduced various ways for companies to obtain functional safety certification more efficiently amidst the growing demand for functional safety regulations and certification in various industrial settings.
In this seminar, IAR emphasized the importance of using an optimized development environment and certified tools for functional safety certification, and introduced its certified integrated development environment (IDE), as well as C-STAT, a static analysis tool for improving code quality, C-RUN, a runtime analysis tool, and IAR Visual State for state machine verification.
By using certified tools, companies can reduce the time required for certification and increase the reliability of development by not having to put in extra effort to verify development tools.
Currently, IAR's functional safety-related tools and solutions are being used in various industries such as automobiles, industrial automation, medical devices, and home appliances.
In addition, TUV SUD presented the latest regulatory trends and certification checkpoints related to functional safety certification, and explained the importance of the safety integrity level (SIL) as a standard indicating how reliably a system can perform the intended functional safety. STMicroelectronics introduced its STL (self test library) functional safety package for STM32 microcontrollers (MCUs), which provides certified software libraries and documentation to help companies significantly reduce the time and cost for functional safety certification. Dioise introduced its OPENRTOS and SAFERTOS as real-time operating systems for embedded systems certified for functional safety. Suresoft showcased its code verification solution STATIC, structure-based test tool CT, and requirement-based test tool COVER as testing tools for functional safety certification.
