Mokpo National University Compound Semiconductor Center provides 1.5 billion won worth of measuring equipment
Anritsu, a global leader in measuring instruments, is responsible for reliability testing at the final stage of Korea's first compound semiconductor MPW (Multi-Project Wafer) process, contributing to the development of the domestic semiconductor industry.
Anritsu announced on the 26th that it will continue its strategic steps for the development of the domestic semiconductor industry by signing an MOU with the Compound Semiconductor Research Center (CSRC) of Mokpo National University (President Ha-Cheol Song).
Through this agreement, the two organizations agreed to cooperate in developing next-generation semiconductor technology and training personnel in the defense, aerospace, and automotive industries.
This agreement aims to foster the next-generation communications industry based on compound semiconductors.
Mokpo National University's Compound Semiconductor Center will support semiconductor design, verification, and measurement resources to Anritsu, and Anritsu will be responsible for reliability testing in the final stage of the MPW (Multi-Project Wafer) process, the first of its kind in the world, through a donation of equipment worth 1.5 billion won.
The MPW process integrates multiple semiconductor designs onto a single wafer, which results in interference between semiconductor chips of different designs.
This makes precise measurement techniques essential in the final verification stage. Anritsu's measuring equipment will play a key role in reliability verification.
It is expected that this will contribute to increasing the stability and competitiveness of compound semiconductor technology.
Through this agreement, Anritsu will provide high-performance measuring equipment worth 1.5 billion won to Mokpo National University’s Compound Semiconductor Center.
The equipment (VNA, Signal Generator, Peak Power Sensor, etc.) will be used for semiconductor post-process education and measurement/verification, and is expected to further strengthen the research environment.
Additionally, the donated equipment will be provided with hardware support for three years, which is expected to further strengthen the research and education environment.
Based on this agreement, reliability testing and customized corporate education programs for the Korean compound semiconductor industry will also be operated.
In addition, we plan to create innovative research results by combining cutting-edge measurement technology and semiconductor technology through joint research and development.
Compared to the global market, the Korean compound semiconductor industry lacks research and development infrastructure and advanced measurement and verification systems.
In particular, we are facing many difficulties in producing reliable products.
In this reality, Anritsu is actively supporting the strengthening of the research and development capabilities of the domestic compound semiconductor industry as a partner for the world's first MPW service, and the development of the Korean compound semiconductor industry and securing competitiveness in the global market.
This is expected to be an important turning point in the growth of the domestic compound semiconductor industry.
Anritsu plans to play an important role in fostering the semiconductor ecosystem in the Jeonnam region based on its global measurement technology.
In particular, a joint research center was established at the Mokpo National University Compound Semiconductor Center to conduct research and development and technology & middot; We plan to focus on creating tangible results, such as activating human exchanges and jointly developing measurement education programs in the next-generation communications semiconductor field.
We also plan to actively foster practical talent through internships and recruitment.
Industry experts are evaluating that this agreement will be an important opportunity to enhance the global competitiveness of the domestic semiconductor industry.
In particular, there is analysis that Anritsu's investment in the next-generation communications semiconductor field in cooperation with local universities is a strategic choice that will lead to long-term industrial innovation.
“The collaboration with Mokpo National University is an important opportunity to further strengthen the competitiveness of the Korean semiconductor industry based on Anritsu’s global measurement technology,” said Hyun-Gil Yoo, President of Anritsu Korea Corporation. “We will do our best to conduct innovative research and development and foster talent for future industries.”
“Through our collaboration with Anritsu, Mokpo National University’s Compound Semiconductor Center will establish itself as a center for next-generation semiconductor technology research,” said Jeon Hee-seok, director of Mokpo National University’s Compound Semiconductor Center. “We will also contribute to the development of the local economy through the creation of tangible research results and industrial application.”
