Cho Beom-goo, the new chairman, is the first Korean chairman since the establishment of Cisco Korea.
Cisco Korea CEO Cho Beom-goo has been appointed Chairman, making history as the first Chairman in Cisco Korea’s history.
Cisco Korea announced on the 24th that it had appointed Cisco Korea CEO Beom-goo Cho as Chairman and selected Cisco Korea Senior Vice President Ji-hee Choi as the new CEO.
The two new appointees will officially take office on August 1, the start of Cisco's fiscal year.
Cho Beom-goo, who served as CEO of Cisco Korea twice, from 2009 to 2011 and from 2016 to present, which is unusual in the industry, has been appointed as Chairman of Cisco Korea.
The position of Chairman of Cisco Korea is a newly created position in line with the rising status of the Korean market in the global market, and CEO Cho Beom-goo has once again made history as the first Chairman in the history of Cisco Korea.
Newly appointed Chairman Cho Beom-gu has led Cisco Korea for the past six years, not only achieving high annual growth rates, but also making a significant contribution to Cisco Korea’s successful transformation into a software company.
In addition, the new chairman Cho has put a lot of effort into establishing a good corporate culture, and as a result, In 2019 and 2022, Cisco Korea was selected as the 'Best Company to Work for in Korea'.
In the future, Chairman Cho will lead the 'digital native' business targeting digital startups such as fintech, games, e-commerce, and portals, which Cisco Korea is leading with initiatives, as well as service providers (SPs), enterprises, and the public sector.
In the future, we plan to focus on large-scale business development with the initiative to achieve sustainable growth not only in Korea but also in the entire Cisco APJC (Asia Pacific, Japan, China) region and global customers' overseas business.
Since joining Cisco in 2000, new CEO Jihee Choi has built up her capabilities by gaining experience in various business areas of Cisco, including system engineer, marketing, collaboration solutions, service provider (SP), and partner organization, over the past 22 years.
Most recently, he has been leading business innovation in the Cisco Global Enterprise Market (CGEM) sector, which includes major domestic companies such as Samsung, Hyundai, and LG.
The new CEO is recognized for his outstanding leadership in driving business growth and innovation during his tenure at Cisco.
In addition, as the APJC (Asia Pacific, Japan, and China) leader of Women of Cisco, Cisco's global community for supporting women's careers, the new CEO is actively participating in nurturing female talent in the IT field and in career development and mentorship for women at Cisco.
Newly appointed Chairman Cho Beom-goo said, “The appointment of Choi Ji-hee as the new CEO is the first internal promotion in the 28-year history of Cisco Korea, and it demonstrates the elevated status of the Korean market within the Asia-Pacific region.”“Cisco Korea has now secured good momentum to grow further, and I am confident that Cisco Korea will be able to continue to grow in the future,” he said.
