Switchgear, busway, integrated modular solutions
Vertiv, a specialist in critical digital infrastructure and continuity solutions, is doubling its global production capacity for switchgear, busway and integrated modular solutions by 2025 to meet growing demand.
Vertiv announced today that it has increased production capacity of its switchgear, busway and integrated modular solutions (IMS) businesses by more than 100% since acquiring the switchgear, busway and IMS businesses of E&I Engineering and PowerBar Gulf in November 2021, and plans to double production capacity again by the end of 2025.
These expansion plans are intended to support current and future accelerating customer demand for data center power infrastructure. In particular, future customer demand is expected to grow rapidly at colocation and hyperscale sites, including for artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing applications.
In the two years since the acquisition of E&I Engineering and Powerbar Gulf, Vertiv has expanded its global manufacturing footprint of switchgear, busbar and modular power solutions by opening new facilities and adding capacity to existing facilities, resulting in the addition of more than 1,000 production jobs by 2023.
And that’s not all, Vertiv plans to more than double its production capacity for switchgear, busbars and modular solutions again over the next two years.
“The acquisition of Vertiv’s switchgear and busway businesses gives Vertiv a comprehensive power management portfolio for data centers and other key commercial and industrial applications, enabling us to deliver more valuable, superior solutions to our customers,” said Giordano (Gio) Albertazzi, Vertiv CEO. “With the explosion of data traffic and the rapid acceleration of AI, today’s demand is exceeding even the projections we made when we acquired E&I. “To meet this demand, we will increase production capacity in key locations and expand our global operations to more flexibly meet future demands for power management,” he said.
“As AI and other high-performance computing accelerate, the need for productivity and innovation across our Vertiv portfolio, including power, climate-controlled and prefabricated modular (PFM) solutions, is increasing,” he added. “Our investments to expand production capacity in multiple regions of the world are aligned with Vertiv’s strategy to support industrial growth and build a resilient supply chain.”
Vertiv plans to increase its switchgear, busbar and IMS production capacity by increasing utilization and expanding facilities in South Carolina, USA, Mexico, Slovakia, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Ireland and Northern Ireland.
