Snowflake, a global AI data cloud company, successfully concluded the 'Snowflake World Tour Seoul' event, presenting an enterprise artificial intelligence (AI) strategy to enhance business competitiveness.
On the 10th, Snowflake held its largest data cloud conference, 'Snowflake World Tour Seoul', at the COEX Convention Center in Samseong-dong.
Now in its third year, the event is the largest ever and features keynote speeches, presentations on customer success stories from 14 companies, 10 Snowflake solution sessions, and various customer engagement events and programs.
Nexon Korea, Kyobo Book Centre, and Samsung Electronics presented innovative cases based on Snowflake AI data cloud, with the participation of data cloud industry professionals including data engineers, data analysts, and AI/ML managers. They shared their real-life experiences of achieving business innovation through AI data cloud and emphasized that data-based strategies are essential for increasing corporate competitiveness.
In a keynote speech titled “The Era of Enterprise AI,” Christian Kleinerman, SVP of Products at Snowflake, said, “To establish an effective business AI strategy, you must integrate and manage data within the organization in one place and build a solid data foundation.” He added, “With the advent of the era of Enterprise AI, the burden and complexity of cost management are increasing, and the cost of AI is unpredictable. Snowflake Data AI Cloud Platform supports all members to easily and efficiently realize the value of data.”
At the event, Snowflake showcased its portfolio spanning data, compute, AI, security and governance, and collaboration, including Iceberg, which enhances interoperability with the OpenTable format, Polaris Catalog based on the Iceberg open source REST protocol now in public preview, Snowpark Container Services, and Snowflake Horizon. They also announced that Meta's open source LLM Llama 3.1 405B is now hosted on Snowflake Cortex AI.
In the first keynote speech that day, Wonhong Jang, leader of Kyobo Book Centre’s Data Intelligence Team, shared the reasons for adopting Snowflake and the data modernization journey over the past three years. He said, “By adopting Snowflake, we were able to define business problems and successfully transition to a data-based way of working by utilizing technologies to solve them.” He continued, “Through systematic training, we were able to foster citizen analysts in various departments across the company, and as they led the development of various data-based use cases for improving customer experience, the culture of popularizing data is rapidly spreading.”
The breakout session, consisting of customer case studies from various industries including manufacturing, retail and consumer goods, tech, and finance, as well as tech sessions explaining Snowflake’s new capabilities, was conducted in three tracks: △Snowflake Data Foundation, the starting point of data workload innovation, △Snowflake Data Cloud, creating new possibilities beyond boundaries, and △Snowflake AI workload, fast and efficient for anyone.
Snowflake Korea CEO Kiyoung Choi said, “I hope this event will be an opportunity for many companies to reaffirm the importance of data strategy through Snowflake’s innovative AI data cloud technology and real-world cases, and to seek insights and practical solutions necessary for establishing enterprise AI strategies.” He added, “Snowflake will continue to support customers to maximize the value of data and successfully execute AI strategies based on safe and strong data governance.”
