Korean venture capital supports global investors to conquer AI computer market
Tenstorrent strengthens cooperation with Korea by attracting Series D investment.
Tenstorent recently announced a $693 million Series D funding round led by Samsung Securities and AF W Partners (AFWP).
Major companies such as LG Electronics, Hyundai Motor Group, and Dongwoon Anatech, as well as global investors such as Bezos Expeditions and Baillie Gifford, also participated.
Tensorrent is a company that designs and sells computers for artificial intelligence (AI) based on its self-developed Tensix core.
In addition to hardware, it also has a differentiating strength in that it provides an open source software stack.
We license our AI and RISC-V intellectual property (IP) to enable customers to design custom silicon.
With this Series D funding, Tensorrent plans to develop an open source AI software stack, hire developers, expand its global development and design centers, and build systems and clouds for AI developers.
“We are delighted to have prominent Korean investors such as Samsung Securities and AFWP leading this round, and to have partners such as LG and Hyundai Motors joining again,” said David Bennett, Chief Customer Officer at Tenstorent.
He said that Tenstorent has a deep history with Korea. The company said it will use this funding round to strengthen its momentum in Korea.
“AFWP is committed to investing in innovative technologies that will change the world, with a focus on mobility innovation,” said Koo Bon-il, AFWP’s Managing Director. “Tenstorent’s cutting-edge technology and open source software are an unbeatable combination.” He added that he is excited to be part of Tenstorent’s journey and success.
