| Support for additional motor types and control techniques from the second half of the year STMicroelectronics today launched ST-MC-SUITE, an entry-point development tool that provides easy access to all resources required to develop motor control applications with STM32 and STM8 MCUs.

STMicroelectronics Launches ST-MC-SUITE
The new tool allows users to collect user manuals and documentation, save project configurations (HW/SW), find download links for software solutions including the newly updated X-CUBE-MCSDK package, and purchase evaluation hardware online.
The tool comes with intuitive features such as an adaptive front end that filters relevant content based on a project description or the choice of a generic search tool. Documents and videos can be previewed and downloaded in compressed format (.zip) and saved as custom bundles.
Users can also create a configuration to select and save the items needed to start their project, including appropriate software, a choice of applicable evaluation boards (control/power), motor and control kits, and inverters available for purchase online.
Supporting documentation can be downloaded directly or added to a custom information bundle. Multiple configurations can be saved to compare different approaches for each project or manage multiple projects simultaneously.
The X-CUBE-MCSDK motor-control software development kit contains firmware libraries and the STM32 Motor Control Workbench graphical configurator. The latest version 5.3 adds support for the STM32G0 microcontroller series and features the FreeRTOS real-time operating system. Updates to the STM32 Motor Control Workbench provide direct access to firmware examples and Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) and Low Layer (LL) APIs.
The initial ST-MC-SUITE focuses on Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) and Brushless DC (BLDC) motor design using Field-Oriented Control (FOC), but it plans to support additional motor types and control techniques starting in the second half of this year.
