KT Opens Namguro IDC in Seoul's Guro IT Valley
Apply KT operating system by borrowing other IDC space
Provides fast network speed with a one-IDC structure KT announced on the 12th that it opened 'KT IDC Namguro' in Guro-gu, Seoul and started operation. Namguro IDC is KT's 14th IDC and 1st 'brand IDC', and can accommodate 335 racks. Unlike IDCs that build servers in a separate space and connect networks, brand IDCs apply KT's operating system and network to other operators' data centers.

KT has been investing directly in its own land to introduce new IDCs, but it has been limited in handling the explosive increase in data center demand recently, as shown by the Yongsan IDC that opened in November last year, which has already been fully booked. In order to respond immediately to this demand for data centers, it established a brand IDC strategy and opened its first brand IDC in Namguro.
KT has partnered with Dreammark One, a neutral IDC company with access points that can connect to major domestic and international network operators, to open an IDC in Namguro.
Namguro IDC is located in Guro IT Valley, a downtown area in southwestern Seoul. A KT official predicted that it will attract a lot of attention from media and game companies as it is located between Sangam and Pangyo, which are domestic IT hubs. The direct distance to KT Mokdong 1 IDC is 5.1km, and it is adjacent to major communication facilities such as Guro and Hyehwa, which allows for increased Internet speed and reduced delay.
In addition, the 'One-IDC' structure provides fast network speed. One-IDC connects KT IDCs (Yongsan, Mokdong 1·2, Gangnam, Bundang) in the metropolitan area into one large IDC, enabling rapid network traffic increase and expansion. Even if a large amount of traffic occurs in any IDC, data services can be continuously provided by connecting to the backbone network via the adjacent IDC.
KT Mokdong 1 and 2 IDCs support the infrastructure monitoring system through dual control. Namguro IDC operations are managed by KT’s operation support masters, and the location is also considered an advantage as it is easy for IT operation personnel from customer companies to visit.
In order to provide stable services, we have also prepared for emergency situations. We have built a '2N' structure that fully duplicates UPS and batteries, and have dualized substations to provide stable, uninterrupted services. We have also installed a three-stage security system from the entrance to the server room.
