Intelligent CCTV Companies: “Functional Enhancement and Differentiation Are Necessary”

▲Korea National Market Expo
In order to target the public procurement market, which serves as a growth platform for small and medium-sized enterprises and startups with technological capabilities, the only public procurement fair in Korea, the National Market Expo, was filled with innovative IT products and AI technology-based products.
The Korea National Market Expo was held on the 26th at KINTEX in Ilsan, Goyang City. As the only comprehensive public procurement expo in Korea that provides opportunities to expand domestic and international public procurement market sales channels and enter overseas markets, many innovative IT products were unveiled, attracting domestic and international public institution officials.
The 23rd National Market Expo this year boasted its largest scale ever with 561 companies and 1,046 booths, an increase of more than 10% from last year.
△Many companies supplying cutting-edge IT products and solutions participated in the Innovation Growth Hall, Digital Service Hall, Electrical and Electronics Hall, Safety Product Hall, Gyeonggi-do Small and Medium Business Hall, and Startup and Venture Youth Business Hall. In particular, the CES Innovation Awards pavilion was popular among tour attendees.
■ CES Award-winning companies show off their innovative technologies

▲Microsystem electronic self-cleaning glass
As the introduction of advanced IT technologies into the medical and healthcare markets increases, Weissen, which won the CES Innovation Award for utilizing AI vision recognition technology, has introduced an AI digestive endoscope product.
Weysen is the first in Korea to develop and provide real-time endoscopic analysis video software, 'WAYMED endo', which can analyze endoscopic examinations simultaneously. It provides a function that detects abnormal lesions in real time and displays them to notify users through AI trained on endoscopic videos.
A Weissen official explained, “In the medical field, the rate of overlooking by medical staff is around 20%, and flat or small polyps can be missed,” and explained that AI endoscopes can support the medical field by preventing this.
Microsystems, which won the CES Innovation Award in the Smart City category, introduced a self-cleaning comprehensive security solution, and among them, the electronic self-cleaning technology received a lot of attention. In the field, there are cases where the identification function of sensors and cameras is reduced due to rainwater and contaminants, resulting in a decrease in performance.
Accordingly, Microsystems developed electronic self-cleaning glass and applied it to the surface of the camera lens. This makes it possible to remove sources of contamination such as rainwater and dust, and there is no significant difference in power consumption, so it has been applied primarily to security and surveillance cameras, and it is expected to be widely used in various infrastructures and products in the future.
■ Intelligent CCTV companies compete with differentiation of functions and products

▲SEO Co., Ltd.’s security patrol robot ‘ARVO Security Solution’
Looking around the exhibition, there were many companies showcasing intelligent CCTV and camera solutions through the development of object recognition technology.
Companies have demonstrated their competitiveness through solution differentiation, ranging from basic detection accuracy such as object recognition and behavior recognition, to functions that notify of event occurrence based on importance, to advanced search functions, and to the development of security robot products.
Intellibix introduced an edge-type video analysis device based on deep learning and emphasized, “Currently, there are too many cameras that need to be controlled per person, and if too many pop-ups appear from the data detected through video analysis, the controller’s fatigue can accumulate significantly.” They added, “We assign importance to the pop-ups from the detected data and selectively manage events.”
Based on its long history of CCTV video-related technology development and experience, Seo Co., Ltd. has developed and is introducing to the market a security patrol robot called 'ARVO Security Solution'. △The product was implemented as a totality of cutting-edge technologies, including autonomous driving, remote control, automatic charging, multi- and real-time control, and environmental detection and intrusion detection through sensors.
Witcon Co., Ltd. introduced the AI solution for selective control, Chaja Forensics. Chaja Forensics can receive general IP camera images in real time and implement intelligent infrastructure linked with existing installed VMS and cameras. It can be applied to 16 to 128 channels on one server, and it can simultaneously search all channels to perform search functions that meet conditions, which is a major advantage.
Although all vision AI companies advertise an accuracy of over 95%, industry insiders said that the accuracy can vary depending on the evaluation data and recognition range settings. In addition, although KISA has been providing testing and certification for intelligent CCTV behavior recognition since last year, it is not yet a prerequisite for market sales such as public procurement.
The industry expects that KISA certification will become mandatory in the future, while it has been reported that the CCTV industry has been in a state of security certification chaos recently as TTA security certification has become mandatory for CCTV products. Accordingly, industry officials expect that rapid certification preparation and quality discussions related to the accuracy of intelligent CCTV algorithms, such as the establishment of future standards, will be necessary.
