Gyeonggi Province's response strategy for revitalizing disaster safety industry
Establishment of a cooperative system for artificial intelligence-based digital disaster safety convergence technology
As cutting-edge AI vision technology is being actively adopted in safety and security infrastructure, the Next Generation Convergence Technology Research Institute will showcase AI-based disaster safety convergence technology in the disaster safety industry at the upcoming Safety Industry Expo.
The Next Generation Convergence Technology Research Institute, a joint corporation of Gyeonggi Province and Seoul National University, announced on the 13th that it will hold the '2023 Convergence Technology Symposium (ConTech 2023)' at the Korea Safety Industry Expo to be held at Halls 7 and 8 of KINTEX 2nd Exhibition Center in Ilsan on the 15th and launch the 'Gyeonggi Disaster and Safety Solution Industry Promotion Council'.
The Convergence Technology Symposium (ConTech) is an event where renowned speakers from Korea and abroad are invited to give lectures on various topics and communicate with the audience. It is the representative academic event of the Convergence Institute, held annually since 2008 and now in its 16th year.
This symposium will focus on Gyeonggi Province's response strategies for revitalizing disaster safety industries, and will also provide an opportunity to examine the state of advanced technology development in related industries. In a situation where citizens' safety is threatened by an increase in various unexpected accidents and disasters in daily life, this is expected to be a meaningful opportunity to discuss disaster management techniques using cutting-edge technology.
The keynote speech for the event will be given by Professor Park Seung-hee of Sungkyunkwan University on the topic of ‘AI-based digital disaster safety convergence technology’, and in Session 1, Professor Yang Miang Goh of the University of Singapore, Director Lee Young-chun of Jeonbuk Technopark, and Team Leader Kim Jun-gyeong of Yungkiwon will present on the disaster safety industry promotion facility project and establishment plan.
In addition, in Session 2, Alchera CEO Hwang Young-gyu, Intellibix Research Institute Director Choi Jun-ho, and Smart Inside AI Vice President Shin Joo-ho will present on safety technologies based on artificial intelligence, such as △AI-based forest fire smoke detection system, △social disaster detection and control system, and △construction safety monitoring technology.
Meanwhile, the Korea Disaster and Safety Agency and the Gyeonggi Province Safety Planning Division will launch the 'Gyeonggi Disaster and Safety Solution Industry Promotion Council' ahead of the event and establish a cooperative system for the development of related industries, such as research and development, verification, and standardization for the advancement of the disaster and safety industry.
The council will include LIG Systems, Global Bridge, Next K, Nokwon Information Technology, LiveSec, Lotte Construction, Lotte Information & Communication, Seo Kyung Industry, Smart Inside AI, Sweet K, Thermo Eye, IoT, Almarocco, Alchera, Webgate, Intellivix, Kolon Global, and Human ICT, and the scale of cooperation will continue to expand.
According to the agreement, participating companies and organizations will promote the following: △mutual information sharing for the promotion of the disaster safety solution industry, △joint research for the improvement of disaster safety solution technology, and △provenance projects for the commercialization of advanced technologies.
Director Cha Seok-won of the Gyeonggi Research Institute said, “As a convergence research institute where the region and R&D are integrated, we will use convergence technology to solve social problems and create a safe Gyeonggi Province.” “I will try my best to make it,” he said.
