LG Electronics is introducing an innovative cybersecurity management solution that will enable automakers to proactively respond to market changes as vehicle cybersecurity becomes increasingly important and related regulations are strengthened.
LG Electronics announced on the 14th that it will unveil the 'Cyber Security Management System (CSMS) Cockpit Platform' developed with its subsidiary Cybellum for the first time to customers at CES 2024 to be held in Las Vegas in January 2024.
The CSMS Cockpit Platform is a powerful security management solution that integrates LG Electronics’ cybersecurity capabilities and Cybellum’s cloud-based cybersecurity analysis solution technology.
It acts as a control center to help prepare for and respond to cybersecurity throughout the entire life cycle of a vehicle, including software and hardware applied to the vehicle.
The platform assesses the cybersecurity status of products installed in vehicles and identifies and resolves issues.
We suggest countermeasures to prevent potential threats, including new security threats, from becoming a reality, and check the status of measures to improve security reliability.
/> In addition, all security activities and action history during the product life cycle of approximately 20 years from the early stage of vehicle development to mass production are managed in a database, and the big data collected here contributes to enhancing security-related technology and business competitiveness.
Automakers can use this platform to protect vehicle systems from cybersecurity threats and keep vehicles and their passengers safe.
It can also secure a competitive edge in the mobility market, which is evolving into a software-centric automobile called the 'SDV (Software Defined Vehicle).'
As various data are created inside vehicles, the importance of security is also increasing.
LG Electronics acquired the management rights of Cybellum, an Israeli automotive cybersecurity company, in 2021 to secure the necessary capabilities and competitiveness in the security field.
Meanwhile, according to the vehicle cybersecurity regulation 'UNECE R-155 (UNECE Regulation No. 155: Cybersecurity Regulation)' announced by the Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), all vehicles released in Economic Commission for Europe signatory countries starting from July next year must obtain cybersecurity management system certification.
“The CSMS Cockpit platform will be an innovative solution that will address the complexity of cybersecurity management for our automotive customers,” said Slava Bronfman, CEO of Cybellum.
LG Electronics Vice President Eun Seok-hyun said, “This is the first time that we have presented the results of combining LG Electronics’ competitiveness in the electrical equipment business and Cybellum’s expertise in automotive security,” and “As the importance of vehicle cybersecurity increases, we will continue to strive to present more effective solutions.”div>
