KT (CEO Ku Hyeon-mo) is expanding care services for the vulnerable by adding a digital platform based on ABC (AI, Big Data, Cloud) to KT AI Care Service to resolve blind spots in the care market such as lack of manpower.
KT announced that it has integrated a digital platform based on ABC (AI, Bigdata, Cloud) into its KT AI Care service.
KT AI Care service is provided through Giga Genie LTE2, an artificial intelligence speaker, and can be used even in homes without wired Internet.
KT AI Care Service provides 24-hour rescue through the KT Telecop-119 linkage system when a senior citizen living alone using the service shouts “Genie, save me” in an emergency situation. In addition, AI care services include: medication reminders, health management through games to prevent cognitive impairment, AI conversation companions, Genie Music, and services to relieve loneliness through conversations with KT CS expert counselors.
KT said that vulnerable elderly people living alone can enjoy the benefits of this service, including preventing deaths from loneliness, managing health and emotions, and improving convenience in life.
After introducing its AI Care service to 100 households of elderly people living alone in Seo-gu, Gwangju in April of last year, KT has been continuously expanding its business to Daejeon, Busan, Naju, etc. In addition, KT AI Care service was used for actual rescues in actual emergency situations that occurred in Busan in December of last year, and in Gwangju and Naju in March.

In addition, according to the Survey on the Status of the Elderly, the proportion of elderly people living alone reached one in five as of 2020.
KT announced that as South Korea increasingly needs measures to care for its aging population, it will expand care services for vulnerable groups using care robots such as Dasom and AICC, and implement a paradigm shift in care services and ESG management by utilizing digital platform technology.
Kim Young-sik, executive director of KT DX Platform Business Division, said, “KT is continuously expanding AI care services to improve social issues such as the aging population and lack of care workers in Korea, as well as fulfilling its responsibility to practice ESG management.” He added, “We will continue to actively utilize KT’s digital platform capabilities to further accelerate digital innovation in the care sector.”
