Providing a complete platform for developing proof-of-concept IoT applications
Mouser Electronics, a global authorized distributor for the latest electronic components and industrial automation products, today announced that it is now stocking the XPLR-IOT-1 Explorer Kit from u-blox.
XPLR-IOT-1 provides a complete platform for developing proof-of-concept (POC) IoT applications for sensor networks, environmental control, medical devices, smart appliances, and lighting applications.
The u-blox XPLR-IOT-1, available from Mouser, includes all ready-to-use components, including an embedded SIM with u-blox’s MQTT Anywhere and MQTT Now trial accounts for connectivity to the Thingstream IoT service delivery platform.
The kit demonstrates a complete end-to-end solution that can publish data to the cloud with just a few initial manual steps.
The XPLR-IOT-1 features a dual-core Arm® Cortex®-M33 application microprocessor supporting up to 128/64 MHz clock frequency, 512 + 64 kB of RAM, 1,024 + 256 kB of flash memory, and supports LTE-M/NB-IoT cell networks for cellular networks in many countries around the world. It supports ruler communication and Wi-Fi® and Bluetooth®.
It also provides accurate location tracking data via a dedicated low-power GNSS receiver, while supporting a nano SIM slot that can be utilized to connect to the user's chosen network operator.
The XPLR-IOT-1 kit uses the MQTT-SN protocol for power and data-efficient communication with the Thingstream platform, and if users prefer Wi-Fi, an alternative path to the cloud is available via the built-in Wi-Fi module and u-blox’s MQTT Now service.
The XPLR-IOT-1 kit comes with pre-built application software available as source code for collecting sensor and positioning data for the Thingstream platform, and a Data Flow Manager that processes Node-RED programming examples to quickly and easily visualize the data in a dashboard.
The device is controlled by Nordic Semiconductor’s nRF5340 wireless system-on-chip (SoC) embedded in the NORA-B1 wireless MCU module, and can host custom applications developed using the Nordic nRF Connect SDK and Zephyr development environment.
The device also offers integrated sensors for temperature, humidity, pressure, light, magnetometer, gyroscope, accelerometer, and battery gauge.
