For automotive and electric vehicle (EV) applications
Mouser Electronics, an authorized global distributor with the newest electronic components and industrial automation products, today announced that it is now stocking the new DLP2021-Q1 automotive 0.2-inch DLP® digital micromirror device (DMD) from Texas Instruments (TI).
The DLP2021-Q1 is designed for automotive exterior lighting control and display applications, including animation and dynamic content and full-color ground projection capabilities in automotive and electric vehicle (EV) applications.
These compact devices can be placed in a wide variety of locations on a vehicle, including on side mirrors, door panels, taillights, and inside the front grille, facilitating vehicle-to-pedestrian (V2P) communication such as back-up and door opening, other vehicle communication warning systems, and vehicle personalization options.
Because of its small form factor and low-power operation, projectors equipped with the DLP2021-Q1 chipset can support a wide variety of projection applications.
The DLP2021-Q1 chipset can be combined with LEDs or lasers to produce highly saturated colors exceeding 125% of the National Television System Committee (NTSC) color gamut.
It can also be used with RGB or white light sources. The field-programmable gate array (FPGA) configuration provided by the DLP2021-Q1 is used to drive the DLP2021-Q1 automotive DMD.
This controller architecture is designed for small form factor projectors and does not require a video bus or graphics processing unit (GPU) for content creation. Video and image content is stored in local flash memory and can be played back at power-on or on command.
The DLP2021-Q1 is supported by the DLP2021LEWQ1EVM evaluation module, also available from Mouser. The DLP2021LEWQ1EVM includes a suite of components, including the DLP2021-Q1 DMD, an FPGA-based DMD controller, and a TPS65100 PMIC, providing an efficient system for evaluating dynamic road survey technology.
