Samsung Electronics announced on the 9th that it is strengthening its 'SmartThings Energy' service, which efficiently manages the electricity usage of home appliances.

SmartThings Energy, which was first launched in May of last year, is a service that monitors the energy usage of each home appliance linked to the SmartThings app in real time, analyzes user patterns to provide useful energy-saving tips, and also checks the expected electricity bill based on the meter reading date.

The eight appliances that are affected are air conditioners, air purifiers, refrigerators, kimchi refrigerators, washing machines, dryers, clothes cleaners, and dishwashers. You can check whether your model is affected in the SmartThings app notice.

SmartThings Energy is the only service that provides integrated energy usage of home appliances through an app from a domestic home appliance company. The SmartThings Energy service, which is being upgraded this time, is characterized by the addition of energy-saving control functions for air conditioners and air purifiers.

First, the new 'Energy Saving Service' feature sends a power-saving signal to the air conditioners of users who have subscribed to the service during peak electricity usage times in the summer, automatically switching them to energy-saving mode.

Additionally, a function has been added to set a daily air conditioner usage fee and automatically switch to energy saving mode when the target amount is exceeded. You can also press the newly installed 'Eco Button' to run the air conditioner in economy mode for a certain period of time.

In addition, a function has been added that sends a notification and suggests turning off the air conditioner or air purifier when it is running even when there are no family members indoors, and compares the total energy usage level of connected devices with the monthly target.
