As VR devices advance through generations, they are gradually achieving performance improvements and weight reduction. PICO, which has released advanced new products, is taking steps to target the enterprise market.

VR company PICO recently announced plans to launch its next-generation all-in-one VR headset, the 'PICO 4 Enterprise'. PICO 4 Enterprise will help enterprise customers realize various possibilities and grow in key business areas including healthcare, education, training, and productivity.

PICO 4 Enterprise is launched with the comfort and powerful performance of PICO's new product 'PICO 4' introduced in September of this year, along with next-generation functions for enterprises. “The PICO 4 Enterprise is a key product for PICO’s enterprise business,” said Oliver Wöhler, Enterprise Leader EMEA at PICO. “We are excited to offer this innovative headset to our partners and look forward to continuing to deliver immersive solutions for businesses, including hardware and software.”

■ Improved performance technology compared to previous generations

PICO 4 Enterprise is PICO’s first headset with precision face, eye, and hand tracking. Equipped with two infrared cameras, the headset contributes to immersive and interactive VR experiences. It supports automatic IPD (inter-eye distance) adjustment, automatically measuring the user’s pupillary distance without additional input or lengthy tutorials.

PICO 4 Enterprise is based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 platform, which provides cutting-edge display and graphics processing capabilities. With a rear-mounted 5300mAh battery that supports the industry’s latest standard Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0, and the performance of △90Hz high refresh rate △4K+ display △105 degree field of view △1200ppi pixel density, users can enjoy a clearer and more immersive VR experience.

The controller features a one-piece rotating arc column and well-placed infrared sensors. Designed with structural strength in mind, the controller allows the user to move their hands closer while simultaneously protecting the user through thermal sensing and spatial awareness. The PICO 4 Enterprise controller supports six degrees of freedom (6DoF), allowing users to enjoy a wider range of movement in virtual environments, and HyperSense wide-range motors for more realistic haptic feedback.

The headset maintains a sleek appearance while tracking and mapping its surroundings with high precision, thanks to four SLAM cameras cleverly placed around the thin frame of the HMD (head-mounted display). A powerful 16MP RGB camera is located under the front panel, delivering a highly saturated display that covers 85% of the NTSC color gamut and 100% of the sRGB color gamut.

■ 'Wearable' devices, comfort is important

The dictionary definition of wearable devices is an electronic device that can be worn. When it comes to wearing, ‘style’ and ‘function’ are important, but ‘wearability’ cannot be left out. Comfortable wearing is an essential issue for wearable devices, whose usage time is gradually increasing.

PICO, which produces the PICO 4 Enterprise, boasts compactness and lightness. The body weighs 300g excluding the battery and strap, and is equipped with all the next-generation innovative technologies. It focuses on weight reduction by installing a smaller and lighter lens using pancake optics technology and reducing the thinnest part of the case to 35.8mm.

PICO 4 Enterprise comes with an adjustable strap. It uses a double PU foam mask that is easy to clean and easily removable with a magnetic clip. The waterproof PU face mask is hygienic as it can be removed, disinfected and replaced. The non-slip PU leather on the back of the headset provides comfort and control.

It is equipped with a large 5300mAh battery that allows up to 3 hours of play and fast charging. TüV Rheinland Low Blue Light Certification and ergonomic headset design allow users to comfortably and stress-free enjoy VR content for long periods of time. The ergonomic design also supports glasses spacers, allowing glasses wearers to enjoy a perfect VR experience without compromising comfort and clarity.

■ Solutions for Business

PICO headsets enhance collaboration and increase productivity for enterprise customers in education, healthcare, training, entertainment, and more. PICO Business Suite, integrated with PICO 4 Enterprise, provides direct access to enterprise-level operating systems, and PICO partners can manage workflows in a secure and private manner.

The PICO Business Suite provides a tailored solution to meet the needs of enterprise customers and independent software vendors (ISVs). The system’s three main features are Sync, Streaming, and Kiosk modes, enabling live streaming and automatic viewing, and connecting multiple VR devices. PICO 4 Enterprise users have the flexibility to adapt the headset to their business operations through a purpose-built enterprise app store, developer kits, and business-specific settings.

PICO also announced that it plans to obtain ISO27001 certification by early 2023 to protect personal information.

Business solutions require rapid support policies such as technical support and after-sales service. PICO is a global VR company that supports companies around the world, including Korea, and users can receive PICO customer service with support from local sales teams. PICO 4 Enterprise emphasized that it has a dedicated business structure centered around local warehouses to respond to business needs at every stage.

PICO 4 Enterprise is scheduled to go on pre-order starting November 1st, and general sales are expected to begin in January next year.
