27 research projects selected in basic science, materials, and ICT fields
Samsung Electronics will support 27 research projects worth a total of KRW 48.65 billion through the Samsung Future Technology Promotion Project in the first half of 2022, and will take steps to foster future leading science and technology fields.
Samsung Future Technology Promotion Foundation and Samsung Electronics announced on the 5th that they have selected 27 research projects to be supported starting in the first half of 2022 through the 'Samsung Future Technology Promotion Project'.
A total of 27 projects were selected this time, including 12 in the basic science field, 8 in the materials field, and 7 in the ICT field, and a research budget of 48.65 billion won will be supported.
In addition to future new technologies such as next-generation semiconductors, virtualized system operating systems, and the world's fastest transistors, many tasks that contribute to solving global problems, such as elucidating aging mechanisms and RNA vaccine/therapeutic purification technologies, were included.
Twelve ‘new research directors’ under the age of 43 accounted for 44% of the total, and six research directors in their 30s were included, including Professor Hwang Jun-ho of Seoul National University, Professor Kim Hee-kwon of Sungkyunkwan University, and Professor Choi Young-jae of GIST.
Including the research projects announced this time, Samsung Electronics has supported a total of 735 research projects with a research budget of KRW 973.8 billion since 2013, including 251 in the basic science field, 240 in the materials field, and 244 in the ICT field.
