Stable service and ability to perform work while moving outside
The security equipment built by KT and Ariel Networks has received national certification, further strengthening security.
KT announced on the 3rd that its security equipment, the 'Government Mobile Gateway' (GMG), built with Ariel Networks, a communications equipment specialist for the 5G government business network project, has obtained the National Intelligence Service's Common Criteria (CC) certification.
Common Criteria (CC) certification is an internationally recognized certification system in the field of information security. It verifies the reliability and stability of equipment and evaluates and certifies the level of protection.
GMG, the core equipment of the 5G government business network service, has the advantage of high security and convenient access to and use of the government network without using a virtual private network (VPN). It was planned and designed by the Infrastructure DX Research Lab of KT Convergence Technology Institute and jointly developed with Ariel Networks.
In the 5G government business network with GMG applied, the government business environment can be converted from the existing wired communication network and desktop PC to a combination of 5G wireless communication network and laptop. Therefore, government work can be performed without restrictions even when working from home, on business trips, or while on the move.
With this certification, KT GMG is expected to be able to stably provide 5G government business network services to the Ministry of Science and ICT, which recently moved to the Sejong Government Complex, as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Korean Intellectual Property Office, and the Ministry of Personnel Management.
Meanwhile, KT is providing a work environment innovation service called 'My Office' based on technology applied to the 5G government business network to general companies. KT plans to continue to present various digital transformation (DX) solutions utilizing 5G wireless networks to public sector and corporate customers.
KT’s Executive Director of Enterprise Wireless Platform Business Division, Lee Il-beom, said, “With the acquisition of CC certification, we have been able to provide even higher levels of confidence in the security of the 5G government business network built by KT,” and “We hope that the 5G government business network project, which supports improved work efficiency for central government and local government officials, will become more active.”
