글로벌 모빌리티 업체 독일 베바스토(Webasto)가 1만5000㎡가 넘는 생산과 보관 공간을 갖춘 새 공장 준공으로 연간 10만개의 추가적인 배터리 생산 능력을 확보했다.
Securing additional battery production capacity of 100,000 units per year… Up to 300,000 units per year by 2025 Global mobility company Webasto from Germany has completed construction of a new factory with over 15,000 square meters of production and storage space, securing an additional battery production capacity of 100,000 units per year.
Webasto has expanded its state-of-the-art electric vehicle battery pack factory in Dangjin, South Chungcheong Province, and held a completion ceremony on the 21st.
As demand for electric vehicles continues to grow, Webasto, an innovative systems partner for the mobility industry, is expanding its activities in Korea by adding a battery pack production plant to its existing plant in Dangjin, South Chungcheong Province.
This expansion comes just two years after Webasto first began mass producing electric vehicle battery packs in Korea.
Webasto Dangjin Battery Campus, equipped with cutting-edge technology, produces battery systems and ships them to customers in Korea, and with the expansion of the factory, it will be able to produce up to 300,000 batteries per year by 2025.
The official opening ceremony of the new plant was attended by Joerg Sandmann, CEO of Webasto APAC, Choi Tae-bong, CEO of Webasto Korea, and Choi Yong-doo, plant manager. Distinguished guests included Marcel Bartling, member of the board of directors of Webasto SE and head of Webasto’s global electrification business, Choi Jae-hoon, head of the Hyundai Motor Group Battery Development Center, Choi Woo-suk, managing director of Hyundai Motor Group’s electrification components purchasing division, and Joern Bai.German Deputy Ambassador to Korea Jörn Beißert, Dangjin Vice Mayor Kim Young-myeong, and others attended.
Marcel Batling, Webasto’s global head of electrification, said: “This expansion demonstrates our excellent collaboration with our customers and strengthens our position in Dangjin, making it a key pillar for our company.”
