KETI Launches Mold-Based DX Collaboration Consortium
Based on process technologies such as molding, injection, and welding, the foundation of the manufacturing industry is expected to be applied to core industries such as future cars by building process data and securing industrial AI technologies in the root industries.
The Korea Electronics Technology Institute (KETI, President Shin Hee-dong) held a business agreement ceremony for cooperation in establishing and verifying the mold DX (digital transformation) foundation at the ISC building (Innovation Strategy Center) of LG Science Park in Seoul on the 8th.
Last June, KETI was selected as the main organization for the 'Establishment of a Digital Transformation Base for Mold-based Production Technology' project of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's Digital Transformation Leading Project, and formed a consortium to develop an intelligent mold-based production system and apply it to the global manufacturing supply chain.
In the future, the consortium, including KETI and LG Electronics VS Division, plans to build infrastructure, equipment, and platform technologies to support DX in future car parts processes and implement ultra-gap industrial AI processes.
According to Kang Jeong-hoon, Director of KETI's Intelligent Convergence SW Research Center, as competition with China's low-cost mold technology has intensified in the domestic press or plastic mold industry, there has been an urgent need to develop high-precision technology capable of manufacturing high value-added core parts.
To overcome this situation, the consortium opened an industrial AI technology support center in Pangyo and Siheung, Gyeonggi Province, built an AI technology big data server and equipment room, and established a mold intelligence control system. We plan to develop an autonomous analysis platform that manages production quality based on cutting-edge equipment such as systems.
In addition, by applying an autonomous production analysis platform to domestic production sites, it is expected to support overseas expansion of mold and injection process technologies and raise the quality of future car parts to the global level.
On this day, the participating organizations signed a business agreement for the establishment and verification of a mold DX foundation, and agreed to work together on △advancing intelligent mold-based production DX and △verifying application to a global manufacturing supply chain.
KETI President Shin Hee-dong said, “If digital platforms such as industrial AI and DX technologies are applied to manufacturing sites, the speed of mass production of advanced parts is expected to improve dramatically,” and “KETI will establish an optimal intelligence platform that can be utilized by small and medium-sized companies and contribute to the spread of national DX and industrial AI process technologies.”
