Related organizations and companies have joined forces to verify new AI-based charging technologies for electric vehicles and resolve compatibility issues between electric vehicles and chargers.

The Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute (KERI) held a multilateral agreement signing ceremony with related organizations and companies at the Ansan branch on March 6 to advance electric vehicle charging technology.

This agreement aims to demonstrate new technologies and strengthen interoperability in electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and consists of two main agreements.

First, KERI, Seoul Energy Corporation, Jeju Energy Corporation, and Korea Smart Grid Association signed a business agreement for verification of new AI-based charging technology and advancement of charger maintenance management.

According to the agreement, these organizations will pursue activities such as applying and verifying new electric vehicle charging technologies, identifying areas for infrastructure improvement through charger maintenance and on-site inspections, and sharing the results.

Following this, KERI, Korea Smart Grid Association, KG Mobility, Hyundai Kepco, SK Signet, EVSIS, Chaebi, Motrex, GS Chargebee, LGU+ Boltup, and KEVIT signed an agreement to establish and operate a ‘Global Interoperability Test Center.’

The center is designed to check and troubleshoot compatibility between electric vehicles and chargers from various manufacturers.

Especially as electric vehicle charging technology advances in the future,Operability is emerging as an increasingly important challenge.

Through the agreement ceremony, KERI is expanding additional corporate cooperation to ensure smooth establishment of the test center, with the goal of opening in July of this year.

President Kim Nam-gyun said, “Electric vehicles and chargers must develop together as a single system,” and added, “KERI will provide a highly reliable testing environment and actively support strengthening domestic technological prowess and export competitiveness.”
