Combining NEC SIAT and Siemens MindSphere
Development of monitoring and analysis solutions for manufacturers
Detect errors in advance and improve safety with analysis models. NEC announced on the 9th that it will begin developing a monitoring and analysis solution for manufacturers that connects its system invariant analysis technology (SIAT) with Siemens' cloud-based open IoT operating system, MindSphere.

Digital transformation is advancing in the manufacturing industry and the proliferation of IoT. Consequently, data collected from a large number of sensors installed across various locations, including factory systems, manufacturing lines, and plants, has improved system safety, efficiency, maintenance, and management, and enabled the analysis and visualization of product quality.
However, to utilize sensor data, data collection, storage, monitoring, analysis, and other processes must be systematized. Additionally, it is not easy for customers to build it themselves, as it requires unique know-how, such as knowledge of IoT systems and data analysis.
Especially in manufacturing, where work processes are often based on the expertise of each plant or individual, the loss of know-how due to retirement of skilled workers and staff shortages can lead to major problems.
To address these challenges, NEC and Siemens have decided to enhance their products to improve visualization and analysis capabilities for sensor data.
SIAT, part of NEC's AI technology portfolio, "NEC the WISE," is already installed and used in over 100 locations worldwide. It not only visualizes systems and their operation, but also uses analytical models to proactively detect errors, enhancing system efficiency and safety.
Siemens' MindSphere is a cloud-based, open IoT operating system that connects products, plants, systems, and machines, enabling businesses to leverage the data generated by the IoT and advanced analytics.
This collaboration will enable both companies to provide comprehensive data collection, storage, monitoring, and analysis tailored to customers' needs.
MindSphere collects and aggregates field sensor data, and NEC's System-in-Aid Technology (SIAT) system automatically monitors and analyzes this data. This solution will initially be provided to manufacturers as a cloud solution, and will then be applied to factory systems, manufacturing lines, plant equipment, other equipment, and the products manufactured using these equipment.
The two companies plan to expand their cooperation beyond manufacturing to other industries in the future.
